Good job Toby, props to noticing that its edited. I gotta find a harder one. the only problem is, most poeple don't know what various inf's look like, maybe post small pics from the registry and ask what key it is.

Guess the INI, (easy one):

[boot loader]

timeout=10

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT

[operating systems]

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional 2195.1" /fastdetect

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows Whistler Personal 2257.1" /fastdetect

C:\="Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition 3000.2"

damned right easy

boot.ini

speaking of ini files and the such...

are the io.sys and msdos.sys still important? or are they leftovers from my initial fat32? Are they safely deletable

i've been wondering the same about half the files in my root dir and such, there needs to be a list of crap files that you can trash. I'll look around on the web sometime.

Whistler is or will be better than Windows 2000, if you don't think so, get a reality check and hope it doesn't bounce.
