Well the invoice from Dell says:

POWEREDGE 1600SC, INTEL® XEON PROCESSOR 2.0GHZ/400FSB.

PROCESSOR #2, INTEL® XEON PROCESSOR 2.0GHZ/400FSB.

Thus I have to believe that I'm getting a Dual Xeon rig.

Next I'll have to do my MCs and my CCNA so that I get payed more for running this system.

They're Xeon's. Just Xeon's. When Intel put out the Pentium 4 line of higher end CPU's (besides Itanic), they dropped the Pentium X part and just called 'em Xeon's.

Well i dumped my huge PC and got these instead smile here is 1 of my new things...

http://www.btinternet.com/~m4carbine/shuttle.jpg

Thats the intel 1, 1.6@2.3, 512mb, 80gb hdd, radeon 9700pro

but i really fancied trying amd again, so its now turned into 1 with an NF2 Chipset, an XP2100+ @ 2700+ , 512mb, 80gb hdd and a radeon 9700pro.

Cant say im sorry i switched at all, this amd one is without doubt 1 of the best machines i have ever owned, easily the match for any intel system ive ever owned in stability, not 1 crash so far. (and so tiny!) Havent got pics of the amd 1 but if anyone wants 1 i can always post some smile

going to be building a pretyt new rig for ym uncles.

he always uses intel - tiold him to try AMD for once.

i want to get him (and he usually gets what i recommend)

a dual 3000+ set up - if not, one for now.

waiting for ATI to pop out more 256mb cards or see what their new r350 can do.

not sure of the rest of the details yet. - likely dual 19" trinitrons, - or possibly LCD's if by the time we get to that part prices are decent.

I'm a happy camper now.

My PowerEdge finally arrived today and it's one heavy sumbitch too.

On another note:

Does anyone have opinions on Mark Minasi's Win2k books.

Amazon and Amazon users give them a good rating and I was thinking of buying them.

The ones I am looking at getting are:

Mastering Windows 2000 Server

Mastering Windows 2000 Professional

Combined they are $AU285.

Thus I would like to know what ppl think and if there are better books out there.

Thanks,

F

The sweetest mobo coming out is Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Ultra. PATA RAID, SATA RAID, and dual-channel Ultra 320. This is based on the i875P chipset with ICH5R (for SATA RAID). Me want....badly. Damn the car payments!

go for it, cavalier is a great car and will last for a long time if you don't run the p1ss out of it like the little "fast and the furious" kids that live near me.

got my 2.4 upto 3.2 stable now!

Nice, now I've got a question. Your specs list your gaming/overclocking rig with 512MB of RAM. Do you use a single stick of ram or a matched pair of Dual-Channel sticks?

I've run across more problems tweaking and overclocking when using multiple sticks of ram then a single stick wink

Yeah I noticed that, nice smile

Myself I'm looking to get a matched pair of Dual Channel sticks for my Canterwood board. Been looking at the Corsair TwinX and the Kingston HyperX kits. Seems the Corsair sticks are better for overclocking for sure smile

Also, I picked up one of the Zalman Solid Copper Flower Blooms for my rig. Comes standard with a generic 92mm fan but you can easily stick on a 120mm fan as well. Forget about the speed controller, don't you want a cooler running CPU smile

i have heard good about the kingston - someone on hard forums got a 2.4c upto 4ghz using hyper X. (or it may have been a 3.0c but sure it was a 2.4c)

dual channel would be good - i am having issue with my p4s533 - my 9700 PRO it seems to display like checkers on the monitor in the back ground, almost the same color as the background - so may replace that mobo with a new ABIT IS7 or something smile as i do not have this issue with my 9700 in my other systems.

have not yet decided - more worried about my w/c setting up now once my rad arrives.
