    Problems with GA-7ixe4 Mobo

I've got the same mobo and so has a mate - I've installed it on Win98SE, WinXP RC2, Linux Mandrake 7.2 without problems. He's got Win2k Pro on it, again, without problems. Motherboard = fine (might be set up incorrectly?) CPU - fine HDD - maybe (i have a seagate 30Gb, no problems though) Seems like a CDROM/DVD drive issue, if it installs fine on other drives...or maybe the controller on the mobo. Hope that info helps :S

    Wierd flashing taskbar

Exact same here - how I fix it is... Unlock the taskbar, drag it down so its just a line, THEN run the game problem solved

W2K Boot up time - is 60 seconds short or long ? seems like

Win2k is the slowest thing i have ever seen boot Jeez, linux is faster XP boots in about 15 seconds, to logon screen, after entering password, about 3-4 seconds to fully loaded desktop.

Whats are you doing you stupid little HD?

How are you formatting it? As long as you dont need anything on the drive, try FDISK'ing it, then format it to NTFS during the install.

You should see what i did. :)

Nice!!! /me likes fans. Lots of fans. Last week i spray painted my case, added an 80mm intake fan, and an 80mm exhaust fan next to the CPU fan....works pretty well. last night i took an angle grinder to the side of my case, put in a window, gonna re-spray it today, add the actual window, and take some pics

. faulty sblive? limiting my fps to 115

Fair enough, bit im not assuming i know what the problem is, i dont know what the problem is, ive not bothered to work it out because the only way this "problem" is affecting him is that he can't run Q3 at higher than 115fps, which is more than double a perfectly playable speed.

. faulty sblive? limiting my fps to 115

PsychoSword - The problem he is having is that his framerate is limited to 115, it's NOT a percentage performance decrease. So the max he's going to get is 115fps, "tomorrows" game wont be able to run at +115fps, that's it. Perhaps if you stop and think a little.

    3D Performance

Win2k is shite for D3D compared to win9x. DosFreak - you may think 40fps is fine at that res, obviously it is - but i guaruntee it's faster in win98se. Win98SE is far better for D3D, about the same for OpenGL, but its a load of shite when it comes to system stability/memory management/security etc Don't get me wrong, I love win2k - it does everything I want it to, but I have Win98SE as well to play games, what's wrong with that? It's set up only to play games, and it goes like a ****ing rocket. Bottom line: Win2k is inferior for D3D at the moment.

    3D Performance

Make sure SP1 is on there As for 3Dmark - Win2k is absolutely SHITE for D3D, compared to an OS on the Win9x core.

    Half Life Blue Shift

Blueshift it alright, not a huge amount of new things - but a lot of cool gameplay all the same. The HD pack is awesome, the new models are great.

Maybe New SB Live Drivers available!

Hmmmmm... I upgraded from an Ensoniq PCI Audio a few weeks ago and have had no problems at all so far, everything's been sweet, in Win98SE and Win2k Pro
