SCALE RECAP: SCALE 8X a unparallelled success; don't forget

Recommended Posts

SCALE UPDATE: SCALE a huge success, and don’t forget to take the speaker survey

A HUGE SUCCESS: With attendance up over 10 percent from last year, organizers of the Southern California Linux Expo SCALE 8X contend that the event this year was an unparalleled success.

The spike in the number of attendees to the first-of-the-year Linux show caused most of the weekend’s sessions and talks to be full, and in some cases – as in the Saturday keynote – there was overflow into other rooms where the talks were simulcast.

The expo floor was packed during the course of the event as well, with many vendors pleased – and in some cases overwhelmed – by the number of people attending SCALE 8X.

Both the attendance and the number of new people drawn to the event serves as a testament to the robust health of Free/Open Source Software in today’s economy, and the forecast is bright for an increase in both the popularity and necessity of FOSS throughout our digital dealings on a personal and professional level.

SPEAKER SURVEY: SCALE 8X staff asks that if you attended the event this year and went to some of the sessions, please fill out the speaker survey. The survey assesses the speakers’ as well as monitors attendance for each topic, giving organizers a barometer regarding the interest in a particular topic or subject. It also provides a blueprint for what to provide in the event next year.

The survey is located at https://www.socallinuxexpo.org/speaker_survey/
