winex run problem

Hello everybody, please help me with my big problem-I downloaded winex rpm from http://digilander.libero.it/winehqitalia/winex.html, installed it runned winesetuptk. Everything was looking fine. Then I ran wineserver because of the socket problem and then wine programneme.exe . And then the problem occurs:

I was running it from the X shell and it had written:

fixme:cdrom:CDROM_ZGetIdeInterface CD-ROM device with major ID 11 not supported(I don't think this is the biggest problem)

Building font metrics. This may take some time...

and then:

XIO: fatal error 0 (Success) on X server ":0.0"

after xyz requests (xyz-3 known processed) with 0 events remaining

;;(xyz is a number starting at about 179 and it raises everytime I try to run wine in one session)

What should I do? I had the newest NVidia driver-the same problem; I uninstalled it-the same problem. I absolutely don't know what to do I also tried another versions of xwine but there was the same error or problem during compiling. Please help. I am running Red Hat 9 and on the other disk I have WinXP Pro.

Thanks

What distro are you running it on ? It is possible that the packages you downloaded were bad. Normally you have to pay for them RPMs and download them from www.transgaming.com. I checked the site out, and it doesn't appear to be a legit site for transgaming.

I am using Red Hat 9. I tried many wine/winex sites also the transgaming CVS and I had problems with each of them. I found that site in another forum, and that winex was closest to run an application for me.

Well that link is dead now which means it was probably an illegal copy of the software which really shouldn't be supported. First off what application are you needing to use Wine/WineX to run? If it's not a game your best bet would be to use true Wine from http://www.winehq.com. If it's a game then you really should purchase WineX from Transgaming at http://www.transgaming.com as mentioned above. Transgaming can then help you with your problem. Another posibility if your application is a game and you know it runs in OpenGL is to get the OpenGL version of original Wine. I have used that version to run Half-Life before.
