news 28 Posted July 14, 2009 Hi everyone, With the launch of Intel's Socket LGA 1156 Core i5 processors drawing ever closer, today we take an early look at another ASUS motherboard designed to support these mainstream Nehalem derivative CPUs. Following on from the enthusiast-oriented Maximus III Formula we examined recently, the subject of today's preview is the P7P55D EVO, which still packs plenty of features into its own take on Intel's P55 chipset. ASUS P7P55D EVO: First look in pictures "The first thing of note is, of course, the new CPU socket, with support for Intel's LGA-1156 CPUs as we've just mentioned. While Intel's "Turbo mode" will only be available on certain processors which utilise this socket, that functionality is supported here by the P7P55D EVO. From the corner of the image, you might also notice the presence of four DIMM slots - As we've already covered, triple channel memory support is stripped from Intel's new mainstream offerings in lieu of a more traditional dual-channel memory controller (which sits on the CPU itself, incidentally). The P7P55D EVO supports up to 16GB of DDR3 memory, at speeds of up to 1,333MHz normally, or 1,600MHz in an overclocked configuration." http://www.elitebastards.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=733&Itemid=31 As always, a news post on your site would be hugely appreciated, and we guarantee to reciprocate by posting any news items received from yourselves.
