LAN IRC DCC Problems SOLVED!

Recommended Posts

For those of you who have been having problems with your clients being able to DCC outside of your network with 2k being the server, thanks to a little bit of research by Tangra, and some trail and error by myself and YuppieScum the problem has been licked!!.

First of all, in the IRC Options/DCC/Options on the client machine(s) set the first and last ports that you wish to use. For a single DCC outgoing connection setting first and last to something like 5555 is OK (but use whatever you like). If you need more than one outgoing connection, a range must be use to cover the max conenctions you need. eg First:5550 Last:5560 will cover 5550-5560 inclusive.

THEN on the host machine (Win2k), goto the properties of you net connection/sharing/settings/services. Hit ADD. Call it DCC and enter the first port number that you set in IRC DCC options make sure TCP is selected, then enter the name or IP address of your client machine. Thats it!!

If you are using a range of ports, don't forget to add each port seperatly to the services so that they are all allowed through. I would also suggest using differnet ports for different machines.

Hope it helps smile
