ViruS

Recommended Posts

i scanned my computer and found that i have the Lovelettr.as virus on my computer, my infected files are those of the programs of my scanner, and i tried to uninstall all of it, but it didnt allow me too, i also looked up information bout it and all i found was some ways to supposedly remove it by going into the registry and i tried to do that but i didn't find the files it said to delete. I'm not sure what I can do to get rid of it ... thanks!

You should be able to delete those files without hurting anything. If you are worried copy them to a floppy first. In addition your should also look for the following:

iठ򨪮htm

lovelettersec.txt

lovelettersource.txt

lovelettertutorial.txt

worm1.txt

worm2.txt

Go to Start-Run- and type msconfig

When it comes up check to see if there are any processes that are "Run" or opened in your Start folder or Win.ini, System.ini etc. Uncheck them or delete them

I can see that the first file is not displaying as it might appear in Windows. It would look like io(with a line above the o).htm . If you find somthing similar with the extension .htm that is probably it.

thanks for the help, i deleted those files that i had metioned before and i ran another scan on my whole computer and found no more infected files. smile

but i searched for those that u told me to look for and i didnt find any matches for them, so does that mean that my computer is free from the virus now? or just that theyre under a different name?

i read somehwere that one of the things that this virus does is take over the communications so i was wondering if that was one reason why my MSN MESSENGER doesnt allow me to connect to it anymore, i dont understand why, since it will allow me into the aol messenger, the msn one tells me that

"we were unable to connect u into .NET messenger service possibly because of a problem with the service or with your internet connection. Please make sure that you are connected to the internet. 0x81000301

then it says that to see the status of hte messenger service click on help, and when i click it it tells me taht the service is running correctly, so i was wondering what it is that is holding me back from connecting to it.

the other day i tried uninstalling it and redownloading it, and that didnt help at all. thanks for the help.
