Windows XP and gaming

Pure opinion here guys, does Windows XP suck for gaming? Or is it better than 2k, 98SE, and ME put together?

Went through all 400 of my games in the last 2 days. So far XP seems to break alot of games that worked fine in 2k...but some of the games that didn't work in 2k work in XP. My XP list will be done soon. Still too preliminary to post comparison between 2k/XP.....let's just say that if you follow MS PR you'll be greatly suprised.

I too have had a few problems. Quake 3 and half life hangs the system when I exit them, final fantasy 8 has garbled up textures and starhip troopers locks up.

 

So far I think its the drivers for my geforce 2 that needs optimizing.

I have played Counter-Strike so far on my system with XP. I haven't had any problems with Counter-Strike and XP.

hmm Max payne, Deus Ex, UT, and many others so far no problems at all here

Lets see.. I am running the following games in XP Pro with ZERO issues.

Rogue Spear

Urban Ops

Covert Ops

Star Trek Elite Force

Rainbow 6

Legends of Might and Magic

DeltaForce Landwarrior

Operation Flashpoint

Swat 3 (upgraded to Game Of the Year edition)

Star Wars Pod Racer

Falcon 4

Grand Prix Legends

 

 

That pretty much sums up ALL the games that I play, and not one of them has a lick of problems.

So far, with the latest patches. Everything I have tried works as well if not better in XP as it did in 2000.

I only play Quake3. It runs fine under XP, the only problem is that I've lost about 12 FPS when running timedemo.

counterstrike works fine for me, but alot of the time the sound is very very garbled. i've tried reinstalling the game, but same thing.
