I have the same error message - haven't noticed anything nasty happen (crashes) though it is somewhat irritating.

I've been getting this as well. It occurs after installing certain programs (Java VM 5.2 update, Diablo II.) It is preventing my computer from shutting down or restarting. So it is a bit annoying. I haven't found a workaround, yet.

You can always change that darn kernel to MPS. The ACPI aint so champ in XP yet but I love it despite this. -Aaron

The errors went away with newer version of winxp that I had back then or when I updated my bios...can´t remember what I did

Try to change the computer type from ACPI to Standard PC, or disable Plug and Play OS in the BIOS.
