win2k annoyances

Recommended Posts

Will somebody please help me? Win2k is driving me nuts. Eventually I find there is a tweakui for win2k and eventually I find a site that actually has a live link to it. Only thing is, it expires as far as I know. All I want from it is xmouse activation without autoraise. x-teq claims to do it for win2k but that prog applies the nt4.0 registry hack which just doesn't do anything. Does anyone know what registry entries that tweak2000 applies to enable xmouse autofocus without the autoraise?

Also just a quick one while I think about it. I would like to be able to see the attributes column in details view when I navigate my system through My Computer. win98 had an option for it, 98 SE didn't, but the registry entry was still there to allow me to turn it on. Win2k doesn't appear to have anything which is a pain as it mean I then have to right mouse click and then goto properties for each file, and when you have several hundred files to find the attributes of, you see my problem. So does anyone know how to enable that?

Thanks in advance...

Admins,

Is it possible for me to upload Tweakui2k somewhere on this site so that people can download it, rather than me sending to everyone who asks (not that I mind :)).

As I understand it, it would not be a copyright breech for it to be mirrored on this site.

As I said, I don't mind sending it on, but you'll have to give an email address.

Otherwise it will disappear into the big internet blackhole where so many corporate documents, files, emails and webpages seem to disappear into.

If you mail it to me, I can stick it up on some webspace, and then I'll post the link back in here.

ok now that u guys all got ur tweakui, someone should actually answer this guy smile

if u'd like to see the attributes in win2k explorer, u need to open explorer, view the files in the right pane in detail view, go stand on a partition (drive:\ you must be on a drive)open the 'view' menu, go to 'choose columns' and then add 'attributes' and your done.

Thanks for all your help guys/gals. Much appreciated. Win2k is at least behaving how I like it, and giving me the info I want to see.

Cheers, smile

To view file attributes under Windows 2000; right click on the grey file info bar (ie the one that says name, date, etc) and put a tick next to "attributes"

Done
