    NetBEUI support in Windows XP

as stated in \VALUEADD\MSFT\NET\NETBEUI\netbeui.txt on the winXP cd: Quote: NetBEUI (NBF) is a non-routable protocol suitable for small networks. Support for this protocol in Microsoft Windows has been discontinued. If you are instructed by the Product Support Personnel to install this protocol as a temporary measure, follow the instructions below. Installation instructions for NetBEUI protocol on Windows XP and Windows 2002. * copy nbf.sys into the %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ directory * copy netnbf.inf into the %SYSTEMROOT%\INF\ directory * open network connection properties and use "Install..." button to add NetBEUI protocol

    NVidia Detonator Driver Discussion

in winXP i haven't tried any other drivers than the 6.50 ones and the ones that came with the OS. In windows 2000 however, i tried every conceivable driver, therefor i drew the conclusion that it would be the same in XP. I haven't checked what drivers are installed for my monitor, i'm assuming that it'll be the p&p monitor drivers. i'll try and install some of the latest detonator builds later when i get home.

    NVidia Detonator Driver Discussion

oh, and im not going to rip out the n°15 pin of my VGA connector and i dont want to run a third-party app to set the refresh rate (i never liked PowerStrip) I'm going to get a BNC cable if the problem can't be fixed easily.

    NVidia Detonator Driver Discussion

I'm having problems with any Detonator drivers above 6.50 in windows 2000. They prevent me from running my refresh rate any higher than 75Hz This is annoying, because at 75hz the screen is quite flickery and it gives me a headache. so now im running XP build 2505, and that appears to come with the 12.41 drivers, and it still gives me the same sh*t. I reverted to the 6.50 drivers (i'm amazed it let me do it) and now i can run my desktop at 100hz (1280x1024) does anyone have a fix for this prob? I took a look on www.geforcefaq.com but the solution provided there doesnt help me (they advise to uninstall the monitor drivers and use plug'n'play drivers) any help is much appreciated. thx

    Moving the swap file

and now on HOW to do it: 1. Right-click 'My Computer' on the desktop 2. go to 'Properties' 3. go to 'Advanced' tab 4. click 'Performance Options' 5. under 'Virtual Memory' click 'Change...' 6. highlight the C:\ partition and set a value of 2MB for the initial and maximum sizes. (This is needed to dump memory to when the system crashes) 7. Click 'Set' 8. highlight the partition onto which you want to put the paging file and set a value that is the same for initial size as for maximum size. (eg. 256MB for both) 9. Click 'Set' hope this helps

    system page file

Hi, some pointers on pagefiles: -put it on your fastest harddrive (ie your ATA66) -Put the pagefile on the disk that has the least I/O activity on it, ie not your system partition (X:\WINNT) -the size... mine is 192 meg big, and i have 256 meg physical RAM. I read somewhere that it should ideally be 2,5 times the size of your RAM, but i dont see a point in making it bigger than my 190 megs unless you use heavy graphical applications like autoCAD or Photoshop. The eventual size really depends on your personal preferences. If u notice your system is swapping too much then u might want to enlarge it. It is also recommended not to make it too big, because then u will get fragmentation on the swapfile, causing it to go slower. hope this clears some things instead of complicating them cheers, Flitzman.

    Hiding folders in Favorites

goto Internet options in the control panel, hit the 'advanced' tab, uncheck the line called 'Enable personalized favorites menu'
  12. ok, my mistake. i have tried this before on a winNT 4.0 machine, and there it says it cant do it cause: 'Can't run 16-bit Windows program, this application is not supported by Microsoft Windows NT' Now i had to try it in win2k as well of course, and now it won't give me that error, but it says it can't find cards.dll. I did a search for the file and found there was a cards.dll in the windows\system32 directory. well anyway, it doesnt work for me, if anyone knows how to do it... let us know. Cause indeed, windows is incomplete without Hearts regards, Flitz
  13. it wont work cause mshearts.exe is a 16-bit application and shouldnt work on NT.
  14. Hello all, i got this strangest thing... i just formatted my 13 Gig harddrive using Disk Management, and now it shows that it uses 64 megs even tho i havent put anything on it. I see no hidden or system files, only the recycle bin is there (which is empty). The drive is formatted using NTFS with standard cluster size. regards, Flitz

    Tyan trinity 400 question

i have the tyan trinity 400 with a PII-350 running on it. it works great after u make some adjustments in the BIOS like setting the clockspeed for your RAM and its latency. check out http://www.hothardware.com/hh_files/Motherboards/TyanTrinity400.htm for more info on that. As far as i can tell (i had it for a week now) its working great and it allows for my PII-350 to be OC'd to 392Mhz without probs (havent tried higher yet) hope this sheds some light... my specs: Intel PII-350 (waiting for a PIII-733) Tyan trinity 400 Apacer 256MB PC133 SDRAM CL Annihilator Pro CL Live!
