  1. I ran KazaA and removed all cases of spyware with Ad-Aware. Now there's only 6 instances left, which are all from KazaA. They're cydoor files and registry entries. If I remove them, KazaA will not load, saying I have to re-install it. Is there a way to safely remove these 6 cydoor "spyware" files so KazaA will still run?

    Best drivers for GeForce4 Ti4400 128MB......anyone?

I have an AthlonXP 1700+ under-clocked at 1.1 GHz because I'm using my old Asus A7V mobo (VIA KT133 chipset = 100 MHz). I also have 3x128MB PC133 CAS2 SDRAM DIMMS = 384MB RAM. My friend has the same chipset but a Gigabyte mobo. He runs the old T-Bird 1.2 GHz. He also has 448 MB PC133 CAS3 ram running in PC100 CAS2 mode. Yes, I use EAX and Creative Labs 3 for playing NeverWinter Knights. Does this help?
  3. I have the MSI GeForce4 Ti4400 128MB card. I installed Windows XP Pro using Standard PC mode and IRQ 11 is used for my video card, no sharing. IRQ 5 is used for my SB Audigy, no sharing. IRQ 10 is used for my Promise ATA100 controller, again no sharing. All windows updates and office updates are applied. Nothing in Startup, no sounds enabled, lots of tweaks applied. Nothing in scheduled and nothing running in msconfig under startup, except ctfmon. What NVidia drivers are the best for performance and stability? My friend has a Radeon 8500 64MB card and when he plays NeverWinter Knights and uses maximum FSAA, its smooth. But when I play NeverWinter Knights using maximum FSAA, its very jerky and gross. Why such the difference? My card is not over-clocked. I'm currently using the official NVidia 30.82 reference drivers.
  4. I installed the latest Jedi Knight II demo. Now I want to know how I run the timedemo to get my fps score......anyone?
  5. For Direct3D is use 3DMark2001SE patch 330 version. But what about OPenGL? Is VulpineGL 1.1p any good or anything else?
  6. I can do the Office Updates, so I did them all. But when I try the windows updates, it does nothing and usually stays at 0% done. Maybe 25% done if I'm lucky. What gives? Any alternative windows updates site(s) that work?
  7. I installed the 28.32 official NVidia drivers on my Windows XP Pro rig. I changed the gamma setting from 1.00 to 1.40 because my monitor is very old and I want to see whats going on, especially when gaming. I select enable at startup, I reboot, Windows XP Pro defaults back to 1.00 setting, but the load at startup is enabled. How can I fix this?????
  8. I currently have my old SB Live installed. Do I have to format and re-install Windows XP Pro again or do I just remove my old sound card, restart XP Pro, it removes the sound drivers because there's no sound card installed, then I insert my new SB Audigy w/1394 OEM, XP Pro detects that I have a sound card, asks for drivers and I just install them? Or is there a better way to do a "clean" install?
  9. I will be getting a SB Audigy w/1394 OEM soon. I currently have the original SB Live (full retail) installed. Should I re-install Windows XP Pro? Or is there a clean way of installing my new sound card? If yes, how do I remove my old sound drivers, clean and properly?
  10. I recently formatted my hard drive and re-installed Windows XP Pro (NTFS) using "Standard PC" mode. Now all my PCI and AGP devices use their own IRQ's and DMA's. No forced hardware or sharing. I did all the windows updates and my system runs awesome. Infact, my hard drive (WD Caviar 30Gig ATA100 7200rpm) bursts around 82 - 83 mbps with HD Tach 2.61 and my motherboard is a VIA Apollo KT133, Asus A7V (PCB rev 1.02) using bios 1009/FXD from Braziliantech. My video card (GeForce2 GTS 32MB) also runs awesome. 3630 3dmarks with 3DMark2001 and 98.4 fps with Quake3 timedemo1 at 1024x768x32, everything maxed including sounds. UnReal Tournament is so smooth and same with Return to Castle Wolfenstein and CodeName: OutBreak (Venom) and MDK2. Now here's were I've had problems. I have the first, originally released SB Live (full retail; with I/O card). I use its digital DIN interface to hook up to my Cambridge FPS2000 speaker system. I enable "Digital Output Only" feature. My sound card is slightly more than 3 years old now. It uses IRQ 5 and doesn't share it with anything. When I installed the latest Creative Labs drivers from their web site, the Surround Mixer sometimes only gets 2 speakers working even though I have it set to 4 speaker setup. Also, when I run movie trailers, I get popping, crackling and scratching. Just yucky!!! When I play games, same thing, yucky but all 4 speakers work for gaming and movie trailers. Even Microsoft's DirectX testing program sounds yucky!!! Now, when I roll back to the original Windows XP Pro drivers and only install the windos updates for my SB Live, movie trailers sound perfectly clear, all 4 speakers works fine. When I game, they all sound fine EXCEPT for CodeName: OutBreak (Venom). It crackles at times, yuck!!! Microsoft's DirectX testing program sounds just fine. Only downside, Civiliation III only uses 2 speakers, instead of 4 and OutBreak pops and crackles from time to time. My friend just bought a SB Live 5.1 (OEM / Value) and he uses the analog connectors to his 4 speaker system. He installed the Creative Labs drivers from their web site and he says they work fine. He runs Windows XP Pro (NTFS) using "Standard PC" mode just like me. My PCI Latency is defaulted to 32. Nothing is over-clocked in my system. Does it sound like my old SB Live (full retail) is just out of date and needs to be replaced? Or did Creative do a crappy job with their SB Live driver support? What can I do to remedy this?
  11. I have a theory why my SB Live gives me popping/crackling problems on my A7V (VIA KT133 chipset). When I ran the same setup with Windows 98 and 98SE, no sound problems at all, but nothing in my systems shared IRQ's!!! Now that Windows XP and XP Pro make all the PCI device use the same IRQ, IRQ 9 in my case, that may be causing the sound problem!!! Thats all I can think of at this point. How do I safely disable ACPI to standard PC mode?
  12. I have the Asus A7V mobo (bios 1009) PCB revision 1.02 Creative Labs GeForce2 GTS 32MB I'm using the official NVidia 23.11 reference drivers. Im my bios, AGP 4X mode and FastWrite option are both enabled and Windows XP Pro reports both are enabled using WCPUID (latest ver 3.0d) But Side Band Addressing (SBA) is supported like fastwrites but not enabed in XP Pro. How can I permanently enabled SBA (Side Band Addressing) in the registry in Windows XP Pro for my GeForce2 GTS 32MB card????
  13. I looked in my tower, and my 80-pib cable says ATA66 on it. Yet, it allways my bios to detect my hard drive as ATA100, DMA5 mode and same with Sisift Sandra. I'm wondering, is there an actual ATA100 cable I can buy or are they all 80-pin ATA66 cables?
  14. I think its the ATA100 cable!!!! I took it out, plugged the blue end back into my mobo (A7V) and the middle (grey) section, NOT THE FAR (black) END THIS TIME and my hdtach 2.61 scores went from 53.9 mbps to anwhere from 62.9 -> 77.0 mbps!!!! I use the 1009X/FXD (temp fix bios from braziliantech) with CPU Idle feature enabled!!!! You guys figure I should buy a new ATA100 cable? Are there different qualities of ATA100 cables or are they all the same and I should keep mine?
  15. Come on people. Anyone want to give it a stab? Lots of viewing, not reply's? Is my problem unique or what?
