Well, it's not just the VIA chipsets. I have an ASUS K7M with the AMD 750 chipset and have the same problems. Everything using 3D crashes, I had the same problem with WinME. Only Win98SE works for me. I tried all different versions of drivers, 21.83, 22.50, 22.80 and the LargePageMinium registry fix.
ASUS K7M (AMD 750 chipset), SlotA 900 T-bird, 256MB RAM, Guillemot Prophet GeForce1, Santa Cruz sound card, 300 watt AMD approved power supply.
I do have 3 hard drives, Zip and DVD - Maybe 300watts isn't enough? I'll try unplugging some of these to see.
I'd like to get a new GF3, but afraid I'll still have the same problems.
