  1. I need to know what the command is to compress a backup using the NT Command line process. I can't seem to find it. The backup utility that comes with NT Server has the checkbox option and it works just fine, but the backups are all scheduled so I need a way to add it to the command line process. Thanks if anyone has the option. Larry
  2. I have a home network running NT4. MY Espon printer is connected to the server locally and is shared. My Win2K box prints to the Epson no problem using the NT4 drivers and Win98 drivers (I foret which it is actually using). I just rebuilt my main computer which used to run Win98 and NT4 Workstation, it is now XP Pro. How can I add the printer to XP? I have tried connecting to it by adding a network printer. It sees the printer, but will not install it because the drivers is not compatible with XP. I guess XP does not like NT drivers and 9x drivers. I can install the computer locally to this computer because the Epson driver comes somewhere on the XP cd, where I don't know exactly. My question is, how can I add the new OS printer driver to NT Server? I have tried just about any way I can think of, including adding a new port on the XP box using my IP address to the server. It just keeps finding the "bad" drivers and refusing to install the printer. Thanks in advance if anyone can offer me some help.
  3. I had the same thing with my IntelliMouse with XP. I have been installing XP Pro the past few days just playing around. I first did an upgrade over Win98. The mouse was horrible. The wheel didn't work. I downloaded the latest drivers. Nothing helped. The OS didn't recognize the mouse had a wheel! I then formatted and installed Win2K and upgraded it to XP. I got the same results! I even did the software install from Microsoft for the Mouse again and nothing helped. I finally did a fresh install of XP all by itself, then installed the IntelliMouse software. Everything works just fine now. Maybe you need a clean install of the OS in order for the IntelliMouse drivers to work? I did the same thing using XP 2505 and had the same results.
