    nvidia drivers for XP

Well, it should be pointed out that not all cards are helped by newer drivers, so for the older chipsets often older drivers are the best choice.

    Visor Handheld work with XP?

Yes, I use a Visor Deluxe with XP. The version 3 drivers incuded seemed to have a driver issue, but the 4.0.1 verion of Palm Desktop from Handspring worked fine.

    gaming problem whit winxp

It seems that the XP detonators are quite unstable still. Try using the older Win2000 drivers they have there, they have worked fine for me with WinXP.

    USB or PS/2 ?

Intellimouse Optical plugged into USB. The movement is better than PS/2, though PS/2 is adjustable.

    Windows XP and gaming

So far, with the latest patches. Everything I have tried works as well if not better in XP as it did in 2000.

OS that runs win32 and open source.

http://sourceforge.net/ emthompson, go there, do a search for win32, lots of open source win32 apps. You really do need to reword that poll. There is no magic to open source apps. It's not that some operating systems support it and some don't. All do. It's just a matter of if the developer(s) release the code or not and allow others to mess with it. An operating system ITSELF being open source though seperates it from others, and would make this work.

    Iss

Remote desktop is a security concern, but not much more of one than having a telnet server running. About ISS, hard to tell, ,ay be some kind of bug in XP that keeps it from detecting that you're logged in as an admin.

OS that runs win32 and open source.

Really, this isn't a good question. There are lots of open source applications that are for win32, and actually it's possible for apps programmed for unix (and Linux) to be run on Windows. Now, an open source OS that can run win32 apps perfectly in itself is something that can be interesting.

    Win98se versus WinME

Well, I'm one of those people who had good luck with ME. It was as stable as 98SE, the features were somewhat useful, and I did notice better network performance under ME. It does happen.

    21.85 drivers and geforce 3

Well, these 'XP' drivers may not have gains for the standard GeF 2 line, but they did bring signifigant speed gains to my MX, so it's not just for the 3.

Do they make AT form factor boards anymore?

I have seen Socket 370 and A motherboards for AT. They are quite rare though and I honestly don't remember where I saw them online. If I run into them again I'll post here, just doing so now so you know that they do exist.

    Error when cloning XP partition

Wasn't sure which board this fit best under, so I put it under this one. A friend of mine recently tried to clone a partition including XP (2600, apperantly Corporate, though I wonder after the nature of this problem) Upon trying to login, this error occurs and prevents the login from resuming. "Windows Product Activation: A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error Code: 0x80090006" The partition was apperantly resized when it was being moved to the larger drive. I checked usenet through deja, similar problems are reported when using software such as Partition magic to make changes. The software used in this case was Norton Ghost 2002. Has anyone encountered this, know a fix?

    Error when cloning XP partition

Ah, looks like they added an activation reset to it for XP, and it worked, thanks.

    Error when cloning XP partition

No, he didn't. It appeared to me that that was just to prevent PCs from getting confused on a network by having the same ID though. In this case, the old drive will be erased.

omg installing ram req to format?

If you're suddenly getting a blue screen on boot, the memory si probably bad. Try testing it yourself. There are no settings that have to be changed to upgrade RAM.

    WinXp a MICROSOFT nightmare?

Um, now, what made it incompatible with 2k? So far I have found it VERY compatible with it's predecessor, definatley more so than 2000 was to NT4. You can turn the new interface style off as well.

Windows XP and 2000 network peace anyone?

Well, it worked fine for me, had XP, 2000, and 98 workign together without doing anything special, so it does work.
  21. If there is a difference, it will be small, and could be made up by some system configuration changes really.

    3DFX compatibility with Windows XP

"brand new" Suggests that he got it quite recently. If you got it long enough ago that 3dfx was still in good shape, getting a new one shouldn't be such a big deal, it's been a while. I hope someone does manage to get some good working drivers for those cards, don't sit around too long waiting for them to do it though. Hardware gets left behind, it happens, and when it does you usually just have to replace it, like I did my Vortex 2.

    3DFX compatibility with Windows XP

Well, I guess there is a lesson here anyway, avoid hardware from dead/dying companies, you will tend to run into trouble.

    Yamaha S-YXG50

Has anyone had success with S-YXG50 software midi under XP (2600)? It seemed to install ok, but the setup/control panel for it won't open, and it seems to conflict with other software, ICQ refused to start while it was running.

    3DFX users DEMAND Support

The MX is a fine performaing card (the standard and 400s anyway) It would definatley be an upgrade from a Voodoo3, and with the new drivers, newer 3dfx chipsets as well. You can also find other GeForce 2 models at good prices with a bit of searching.
