    What is Win2K "SR2"

I have decided to do away with Win2K due to a problem I have (See thread "Errors (again)!!!!!!" in Applications. Gone back to 98SE, and I'm going to rip IE out with IEradicator ASAP. Thanks again

    Errors (Again)!!!!!!!

I posted this one further down, but didn't get much joy It concerns these bloody "Sonar has generated errors and will be closed down by windows" messages I get when using Cakewalk Sonar!!!! This is really p*ssing me off, I have all the latest updates (Win2K 2195, SP2, Sonar 1.3 update reliesed just 2 days ago!!!!) It just does it for no reason "WHAT-SO-EVER"......Just opening a mixer window can cause it, or clicking on the volume slider......ANYTHING!!!!! It really makes me mad......this Bastard message just springs up from nowhere, and I loose all my unsaved work!!!!. If this carry's on, I will be forced back to bloody 98SE , Thing is, Sonar was developed to run best under Win2K, and it's slugish under Win98. Don't get me wrong, I love Win2K.....it hasn't crashed once in the three months I've had it (No blue screens)......Just these bloody Sonar crashes. It's a *Fresh* installation of Win2K and the only apps I've installed are: Cakewalk Sonar and Sound Forge 5.0 (Which *NEVER* crashes!!!!) My specs are: Athlon 850mhz Asus A7PRO MoBo 256MB Ram SBLive 1024 Soundcard Win2K 2195 Service Pack 2 Can anyone give me a clue as to why this is happening????? I will reward anyone who can help with a big, fat THANKS.......And please don't tell me i'm stuck with the problem.....It could well send me over the edge! Thanks

    What is Win2K "SR2"

So you recon they mean "SP2" (Service Pack 2) when they say "SR2" (Service Release 2)?????? I've searched the Mic*os*ft Web Site, and can only find "Service Pack 2" for 2K????? The reason I wanna get rid of IE is I'm dual booting (I use Win98SE for the net) so I don't need it on 2K!.....It don't really matter, though. Thanks

    What is Win2K "SR2"

Simple question, What is Windows 2000 "SR2"? I just d-loaded IEradicator to get rid of IE from my Win2K installation. Thing is, it says it can only do it on: 95, 98, 98se, Me, and Windows 2000 SR1???? It says it can't do it in Windows 2000 SR2 or WindowsXP!!! So, what is SR2, and how can I tell which one I have? I have: Win 2K Build 2195, Service Pack 2. BTW: How high did the Build get? Is 2195 an early Build, or a later Build? Thanks a lot for any help

Erm........Soundblaster Live! drivers? latest?.......Yes, they are, if you can call drivers from 1999 "latest"? this, believe it or not, was the last time Creative updated them!!!! Hey GeOph, you think this may be the problem??? any help on this matter would be great......would like to sort it. I really thought it would be Sonar that was causing the problem........it would be nice if it is'nt, cos I'd much rather ditch the soundcard than Sonar. Thanks.
  13. You know when Win 2K comes up with the message: "This program has generated errors......A log file is been created"????????????? Is this the fault of the program running (Due to bugs), or is it Windows 2000's fault. The reason I'm asking is becouse, I'm using Cakewalk Sonar (With latest update v1.02), and it seems to do this quite a lot!!!!! Cakewalk's fault?, or Microsoft's fault? Any help would be greatfully received.......Thanks.

    Screen Positions????

There's no problem here, I just posted higher up ;( that it works! here's the Info again: Win 98 (First Ed) & Win 2000 have >DIFFERENT SCREEN POSITIONS< Win 98 (Second Ed) & Win 2000 have >SAME SCREEN POSITIONS< My question was "Do Win 98 (Second Ed) and Win 2000 have the same screen positions?".........I then installed them both and the answer was yes, they do......No problem here. Regards
