Hello.
Somewhere under
"How Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) works"
in some Helpfile I read that:
"All inbound traffic from the Internet is compared against the entries in
the table."
So there IS a table with definitions of what can go and what can't go
through the firewall...
Does anyone know where can I find that table, and how can I edit it?
My problem is that the firewall won't let the IRC to get through because it
uses port (6660-6669) which is 'not allowed'
So I'd like to add the IRC service definiton to that table and it may work
okay...
Can anyone help me, please? I am out of ideas...

Under the Advanced Settings on the Services tab, you will find a list of
pre-defined "exceptions" that the ICF will allow through. You can add one
for IRC. Note that the examples shown only map one port at a time. You might
try to enter a port range such as "6660-6669" to see if that works.
Otherwise, you need to create an entry for each port. Set the internal and
external port numbers to be the same.
You might be able to set IRC to use fewer ports to make configuring ICF
easier.
Note that Windows Messenger knows how to add its own entries to ICF.

I have already created such entries in my
ISP/Properties/Advanced/Settings...
I created a rule:
Description: IRC
Name or IP address: irc.myisp.com (I also tried it's IP)
External Port: 6669 (actually i need only this Port)
Internal Port: 6669 (same as External Port)
I tried to check both: TCP and UDP
and still without any luck...
But if if I turn my ICF off, it works all fine... so there's a problem with
my ICF...

Andrej;
ICF is designed to be used with the ICS router module. You need to enter
your own IP address in the address box, not the address of the source, when
you are using ICF in stand-alone fashion.

Thanks for the answer again.
In my small network my XP computer is also an internet gateway so I set IP
to my computer: 192.168.0.1...
The first computer near me is 192.168.0.2 and so on...
Under "Name or IP address" I typed IP of computer near me: 192.168.0.2 and
the IRC worked fine on that computer...
But it still won't work on my XP computer if I use my IP or my computer name
as IP address under advanced ICF settings...

Well then it must be that these settings don't work unless used with ICS.
But I would try using the external adapter IP address before giving up.
