  1. I'm a member here, but have heat in the hardforums, and 199 100% positive feedbacks on ebay under smokinkane. Ok I'm selling some of my best equipment so that I can upgrade to a conroe setup. Motherboard, Processor, & Ram combo: Albatron PX865 PE PRO II motherboard with most all the original retail boxed items. This board is a s478 intel 865 chipset board with PATA Raid and SATA raid, which is a great feature. It overclocks really well, and I have this combo clocked at 3.4+ghz this is on a 2.4c P4. As you can see the processor is a retail 2.4c and runs stable at 3.4+ghz, I have 2x512mb OCZ pc3200 DDR that are running DDR 500 speeds as I type. So if you purchase this combo you should be able to run it day in and out at 3.4ghz. Asking [size:5]320.00[/color] for the combo, but will part it out if I can secure buyer for everything seperate. I don’t really need anything else, oh and I’ve been a lurker for awhile and if you want to check out my ebay id is smokinkane. I have 175 feedbacks 100% positive, so no need to worry about getting your item. 3. Ok, so I think I have a power supply problem, my psu only provides 11.7x to 11.8x on the 12v rail, and all the other rails are a little low too. Do you think this would cause stability problems? Do you think I am drawing too much power? Here are my components: p4 2.4c@3.36 Thermaltake bigwater kit 1gb ocz pc4800 PNY g800gt @ 400, 1100 2 wd 80gb in raid 0 1 seagate 250gb 1 liteon cdrw 1 liteon dvdrw 1 120mm fan 2 cathodes floppy drive All of this running off of a Thermaltake 480watt power supply. Does anybody now if I can turn the voltage rail up in this power supply if I'm drawing a little to much power? Please advise.

    resolutions and gaming

I have what may be an obvious question. When you play games, any games, at a higher or lower resoltion than your destop resultion you get screen shrink. The different resolution has a different refresh rate, and isn't formatted to fill your screen. Now is there anyway to make a game fill the screen regardless of resolution, I realize lcd's do this inherently. But I have a nice crt that I don't plan on getting rid of anytime soon. Thanks
  5. I currently have an Albatron PX865PE PRO II, it is a great 865pe based board with alot of features some of which I use some I don't. I left on vacation, came back and the computer was off, turned it back on to get many random memory errors. RMA'd the OCZ PC4400 memory I had, got it back samething (mind you this setup has had no changes in about 6 months). So I got to looking closely at the motherboard itself, and saw that several of the capacitors directly around the memory slots, are leaking, some more than others. I'm assuming this explains everything, but, I'm having a hell of a time finding a motherboard with the features I need included. I would like to stay with the 865 or 875 chipset and it has to be s478 for my 2.4c. The board needs to be overclockable, have a PATA raid controller, have SATA available, and also onboard LAN. Here is the rest of the system I have now: Albatron PX865PE PRO II P4 2.4c @3.3 Thermaltake Bigwater 512mgOCZ PC4400 running at 4400 CL 2.5 in Dual Channel 2 80gb WD PATA hard drives in RAID 0 1 120gb WD 1 250gb SATA Seagate for backup ATI Radeon 9800pro Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Lite-on DVD burner Lite-on CDRW
  6. Ok, so what I need to do, is setup a windows xp machine to be a remote desktop host. While this is normally an easy task, this time I want this host to be a "dial in" connection not IP. So basically, I would like to control this computer by dialing the number to the line the modem is connected to on the host computer. If I need to clearify let me know, I know you can do this with other software, pcanywhere, etc., but I need to use remote desktop it possible. thanks ahead of time

    Monitor Reset, Please help

Ok guys see if you can figure this one out. I have a problem with my Viewsonic P95f+B while in windows the monitor will suddenly turn black then come back, sort of like it is switching refresh rates or resolutions. I have no idea while it does this and it is very annoying. I will list my components if it helps. By the way I had this problem before I upgraded to a geforce4 vid. card. Soyo P4S- (sis agp driver is installed) Abit OTES (det 41.09) OCZ pc2700 512mg WD 80gb hd santa cruz that should be all that matters, please if you have any idea, I would most appreciate it, thanx ahead of time

  10. I noticed a few days after installing XP with SP1, I know have an extra drive letter, it refers to a CDROM device named, Image Simulation SCSI CdRom Device. I don't have such a device, I only have a Pioneer 16x DVD and a Yahama 16x burner. This hardware is mounted on a Soyo P4S mobo. IF I remove the device, it reappears on the next boot up. Please help if you can tell me how to rid my system of this device!

Weird new hardware after formatting and installing WinXPSP1

I used Customizer XP to remove it from my computer. I guess that is good enough for now, but it sux to have devices present that you don't even have, I hate little things like that

    Suggestions on new motherboard

I have a p4 1.9 s478 and shuttle AV40 right now, and I want a new motherboard with RAID and LAN onboard. I have been looking at Soyo's new sis 645dx based board and then I read an article about Via's new p4x333 chipset that is fast as hell. I want performance and have OCZ PC2700 RAM so the DDR 333 is the sort of board I'm looking for, please give me your suggestions. Anybody have a soyo board?

    Best Det's for orginal geforce3

I have a visiontek geforce 3, I have tried using the 23.11's that I used with my previous geforce2 ultra, and I get infinite loop errors in 3dmark. So I installed the 28.32's and they work fine, but the performance is lackluster. So which det's do you think I should use? My system spec's are as follows: Shuttle AV40 P4 1.9 512mg OCZ DDR Visiontek Geforce 3 Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Promise ATA 100 controller IBM 75gxp 30gig, IBM 60gxp 60gig linksys NIC Pioneer 16x DVD Yamaha 16x burner 4.38 4-in-1's Windows XP Pro

    what's the best ms os?

win2k, seems I always end up going back to it, becuase it is more stable when my system is overclocked. Yes it does feel faster too. I guess becuase it doesn't have all the transitions WinXP does, and I realize they can be turned off. Although if I was going to do that I would just rather have Win2k. haha

    Athlon XP or Pentium4

My outlook on an amd system is this, good performance with a major sacrifice to stability and compatibility (you know its bad when DELL doesn't even use AMD). Build an Intel system get good performance, stability, and compatibility. I have to admit, I have a Shuttle AV40(VIA) P4 1.7ghz, and OCZ DDR, and have had no stability problems. This system is equally as stable as my last system which was on the best chipset of all time the 440bx.

    Bad or good RAM

As far as DDR goes, I have used two different brands than anybody has talked about. Kingmax PC2100 256mg 2 sticks each OCZ PC2700 256mg 2 sticks each The Kingmax DDR was very stable, I just wanted to upgrade to PC2700 OCZ for further overclockability with my P4 setup. My only gripe about the OCZ ram is the fact that in my BIOS I had to set all my ram timings to "by spd" which didn't affect performance becuase it choose the best settings anyway.
  18. I have a Shuttle AV40 and love it, although I can't seem to get a stable overclock. I have narrowed it down to the DDR that I have it's Kingmax PC2100 MicroBGA. I noticed in a .pdf document from kingmax that the memory modules I have are only capable of 133x2 at cl 2.5. That Sucks! So I have decided to go with OCZ DDR. So here is my question, should I go with PC2400 CL2, or PC2700 CL2.5. I just want the RAM to be able to with stand high bus speeds. I have a 1.7ghz P4 that I can post well over 2ghz, so you can understand why I need good RAM. Please give me some feedback, or send a link to an article.

DDR questions, looking for some feedback here!

I have been down that road before, I have 512mg also, and even a respectable brand, but can't get the results I desire.

DDR questions, looking for some feedback here!

What type of bad things have you heard? The Crucial Ram doesn't guarantee any better performance than I currently have, neither does the Cosair. That is the reason for the OCZ

    Windows XP BSOD: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I read another post that said to use Driver Verifier which is built into XP/2000. I have some of the same problems, so I tried that, although, I didn't find any good tutorial on how to actually use it. The best I could tell after you more or less enable it on the next boot up it pushes your drivers to the limit and if one snaps it reports that one, and sits there in a blue screen. So then you find a new driver for that device. If this is not the proper way to use Driver Verifier somebody post a link of a good tutorial on the proper way to let it "verify" your drivers.

    Winxp boot up hanging

I have a little problem with my new setup. I have Winxp pro installed, and log in as the administrator. As I log in, I reach the windows desktop and several programs begin to load into the system tray. After ICQ, and Norton's Antivirus are loaded, there is a pause of more than 30 seconds before the computer finishes booting. If I try to execute any other programs during this period of time, they are not executed until after the computer finishes booting. It didn't start doing this until a week after the clean install of Winxp. I will list my system specs for reference: Shuttle AV40 (4.34 4in1's) P4 1.7@ 2.0ghz 512mg of Kingmax DDR Geforce 2 Ultra (det 12.41) sblive value (newest drivers 3511's) I think thats the number not on my computer right now Promise ATA 100 controller IBM 75gxp 30gb WD 20gb WD 13gb Pioneer 16x DVD Yahama 40x10x16 Linksys NIC The problem doesn't keep me from using my computer, but it is annoying, leave a post with any good answers

Any P4 S478 users out there? What MB you got?

Bladerunner, I've been stuck on Intel chipsets since 1995, I never had any real problems with them, so as the new chipsets came out, I bought them. I didn't even really ever look at the competition. When I decided on a P4 solution, I knew I couldn't afford the 850 boards with their rambus. I was real sceptical about using a via chipset motherboard, I read a bunch of reviews, and it seemed everybody camed that stability was not an issue. Hardocp even said the board was "the pinnacle of stablity." That is exactly what I have had, I would recommmend this board to anybody wanting a p4 solution. I use WinXp and leave my computer on 24hours a day, the only time I reboot when I install new software.

Any P4 S478 users out there? What MB you got?

I'm using a p4 s478, on a Shuttle AV40, first via chipset motherboard I have used. I like very well so far, I ready many reviews before purchasing it, it received high ratings. I opted for it becuase DDR is cheap when compared with RAMBUS. As far as stability I have had excellent stability with it, even with my p4 1.7@ 2ghz. I would recommend it for a DDR solution.
