HELP! Windows 2000 Pro won't install

I dont know about Linux, but Win9x uses RAM from the top down (starts at the upper area), NT/2k use RAM from the bootom up.

    BSOD as requested

After checking the ram I would pull out all cards but the video card (if you have an older card you could swap in that might be the worth the time). Disable all on board peripheral devices and try again to install.

At which point in the install is it crashing? What error are you getting on the BSOD?

    Building DMI Pool

I upgraded from a K7-650Mhz to a K7-750Mhz. Now I get the message Building DMI Pool....... right after the bios boot up. And the system goes no further. When I plug my 650 back in the system boots up fine without this hang up. I have taken out all the peripheral devices. The only card in is the old PCI 2 meg vid card. I also tried disabling the CPU L1 and L2 cache. No luck. What can I do? Here are my system specs. Abit KA7-100 with latest flash.(raid controller disabled, USB disabled) AMD K7-750Mhz (7.5 x 100) 300W power supply No hard drive plugged in. (boot from floppy) No CD ROM 128Meg Infineon PC133RAM

How many here have had problems with a Via chipset?

In the post above DosFreak was daydreaming of dualies. Perhaps I am wrong but the P4 does not support SMP.
