Firefox 1.5 - Flash and Java problems

You need to create a symbolic link to the JRE ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so file in the plugins dir of your browser. Just be sure your paths are correct. Maybe this can help too. Java Install for Linux
  3. I'm just starting to use Linux(SUSE 10). I'm trying to find the FireFox directory. When I do a search in File Manager-Super User Mode, it comes up with a couple results: home/username/.mozilla/firefox root/.mozilla/firefox usr/bin/firefox When I go to these directories, it doesn't show any of the firefox directories. How come I can't see them? Is there an option, like in WinXP, to show certain files? Thanks,

    Why such slow up speed?

Im trying to send a file to a friend of mine but it's only upping at 21KB/sec and my upload speed from my ISP is 256, he's got a good cable connection too. I tried using AIM and Easy File Sharing, and getthe same speeds. Any ideas on how we can make this faster? Thanks,

    Why such slow up speed?

I would be happy with 58, that's over twice as fast. It doesn't matter what time of the day or night we try it, it's always in the low 20's. Almost reminds me of Dial-Up,,hehe
  10. I'm getting this error when I close Outlook 2003. The instructions at "0x05c8a9fe" referenced memory at "0x61c2128. The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. I ran memtest, just incase, and all RAM is fine. Any ideas? Thanks, ZoSo

    Office 2003 Error when closing.

OK, I found the problem. It was Steganos Security Suite, I had just updated it. What it did I'm not exactly sure yet, I'm still looking in to it. But I found it by reading this article found at the MS site.

    Office 2003 Error when closing.

The only thing that runs with Outlook is my Anti-virus proggy, I disabled it and I still get the error. No overclocking, tried BIOS defaults too, same results. Also tried using the "Detect and Repair" built into office, no luck. I think I might just try to uninstall and re-install Office.

    What is lsass.exe?

What is lsass.exe - LSA Shell (export version) ?? When ever it runs my CPU usage goes up to 100%. I've only seen it running one time though, so what causes it to run? And do I need it to run. This is on XP Pro. Thanks,
  14. I'd like to be able to change how much bandwidth(internet) some of the computers on my home network uses. How would I go about that? And if possible can I do it from one machine? And is it possible to get to the admin tools on one machine from another? Thanks, ZoSo

  16. Recently my system is taking forever to go from the logon screen to the desktop, takes over a minute, when it used to only take a few seconds. I checked the Event Viewer and there is only one problem showing up under System. This is what it shows: Service Control Manager Event ID 7000 The svchost service failed to start due to the following error: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. When I click on the "For more information,,,,,," link, I get this: Event ID - 7000 File Name - netevent.dll Source - Service Control Manager Type - Error Other then that the system is running fine, all apps, and networking work. Any ideas on what this could be? **UPDATE** Found this under help and support: Code: Details Product: Windows Operating System ID: 7000 Source: Service Control Manager Version: 5.0 Symbolic Name: EVENT_SERVICE_START_FAILED Message: The %1 service failed to start due to the following error: %2. Code: Explanation Service Control Manager (SCM) could not start the specified service, probably because the service is not configured correctly. User Action Do one or all of the following:-Review the error information displayed in the message.-Verify that the service password has not expired.-Verify that the service is in the correct location.-Verify that the service is not infected with a virus.-To display the WIN32_EXIT_CODE error that SCM encountered when trying to start the program, at the command prompt, typesc query service nameThe information displayed can help you troubleshoot possible causes for the error. If the WIN32_EXIT_CODE is zero, then SCM did not attempt to start the service because the error was detected first. The problem I'm having now is, that it's not saying what service is not started. And does anyone know what the netevent.dll is used for? Maybe that can help lead me to the problem. Thanks,

Event Viewer and really long logon time.

I found an entry in the registry for iomonkey and got rid of it. No more iomonkey error but the same error as before comes up still even though it's in the registry Run. This is still stumping me.

Event Viewer and really long logon time.

Ok made a little progress here. I seen that netevent.dll was not loading so I added this string into the registry C:\WINDOWS\system32\netevent.dll into HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run System seems to boot a litle faster now but I get this error: iomonkey service failed to start Anyone ever hear of iomonkey? Couldn't find anything about it at MSTech or through search engines.

  22. Here's something else to checl out. Thanks to RhinoTrip & Deadcat who both found solutions: This one works; I just proved it. On the pc running XP, log in as you normally would, go to users, manage network passwords. Here is where the problem lies. In this dialog box remove any win98 passwords or computer-assigned names for the win98 PCs. In my case , I had two computer-assigned win98 pc names in this box (example G4k8e6). I deleted these names (you may have passwords instead as Deadcat had). Then go to My Network Places and voila', no more delay!! Now, after I did this and went to My Network Places to browse the first win98 pc, I was presented with a password/logon box that looked like this: logon: G4k8e6/guest (lightly greyed out) and a place to enter a password. I entered the password that I had previously used to share drives on the win98 pcs long before I installed XP. I have the guest account enabled in XP. This solves the problem for win98 & XP machines on a lan; I can't guarantee it will work for win2k/ME machines as well, but the whole secret lies in the passwords. If this doesn't solve your slow winxp>win98 access problems, then you probably have other things wrong. Don't forget to check all the posts in this NGP to include unchecking use "simple file sharing", turning off your ICS firewall, enabling Netbios over TCP/IP and installing proper protocols, services & permissions. You do all this and I guarantee it'll work. We have spent 3-1/2 weeks on this issue, so believe me, we have tried everything. ps- I claim no credit; thank Deadcat & the others
