How do I set up Peer to Peer with Win2K and WinMe

The last response from Xiven fixed the issue with WinMe viewing Win2k. I saw that several times but didn't think about it till you posted that reply. One last issue. Win2K still comes up with no network or computer found. But on WinMe I can view all of Win2k. But Win2K can not view WinMe. Is there something like that on WinMe that I need to do so Win2K can view it. Thank You For All the Help

How do I set up Peer to Peer with Win2K and WinMe

I am still same problem. But I think you are all right about guest having to be enabled. I gave guest a password. But when I try to log on the window 2000 as guest and use the password. It says this uses is disabled and you need to see the administrator. Will I thought I was enabling it right. You do go to control panel then user password. And then from there you can add or remove users right. And then they should be enabled right or wrong. Thanks again.

How do I set up Peer to Peer with Win2K and WinMe

Ok before I used NTSF format with Win2k I could see my other box which is winME. Both cards have ehternet cards and both connect to a hub. I have tried Lmhost. No luck!! I have tried many other things. Could I get some post on suggestions for this. I am lost. One thing when I try to connect to the win2000 from winme box. It says enter a password to connect. I tried every password I can think of but nothing. On the Win2k box I get nothing at all. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I use to have both of my systems connected together with WinMe. They both have ethernet cards and both are connected to a hub which is connected to a cable modem. I used to be able to transfer files and play LAN games without a hitch. Can someone explain or send me a sight where I can get these to back to being Peer to Peer. Thanks in advance.

My experiment , with win9x and win2k= SBLive

I will give changing my ACPI to standard and see what happens. I guess I can reformat if I have to. I hope I don't thou.
  6. I have fixed the issue of crackling in Win2K. But I don't like the idea of having to reduce hardware acceleration, to do so. So I have to hard drives I decided to reformat one for win98SE. Will I finally got the second hard drive format which took for ever.It kept saying secured network device format error. So I used fdisk. Finally got it. In win98SE the IRQ setting for the SBlive is 7, and 5. All games run great and no crackling with hardware acceleration at max. THIS IS WHERE THINGS WENT REALLY WEIRD!! I now disconnect the second hard drive and leave the first one connected so I can see what IRQ SBLive is using and if I can change it. Will I boot up. No hard drive connected to the system. I check Bios same thing. I tried several things but nothing seems to work. I then just connect the second hard drive back up and the system boots into win2K. Once In win2K explorer I clicked on the second hard drive it says in order to view this drive it needs to be formatted. No problem I was planning on doing it later any how. I guess I am screwed if I ever want to format the first hard drive!! Any suggestion for that would be great. But now back to SBLive. The IRQ for it is 11, and so is my Wintv card, network card, AGP Card, and my PCI USB which is built on board. Now I have tried to change the network card and SBlive IRQ and there is no way to do so in Win2K or I am missing something here. I checked Netgear web site and it says on trouble shouting that my network card and SBLive need to be on different IRQ's and not be using the same ones. Any thoughts and suggestion on this. Constant reboot while playing Giants

What I did was go in DX Diagnostic and moved the hardware accelerator from max to basic and it fixed the problem. So far all my DX games run with out the crackling sound and the system doesn't start to reboot after a couple minutes in games. I don't like the idea I have to reduce the hardware acceleration on my sound card to get games to work. In Win9x I never had any of these issues. But of course they weren't as stable either. I guess there is a pay off somewhere out of this. I am looking at getting a Turtle Beach Cruz sound card. But I would like as many reply's as possible on all issues with card that and Win2k combo. Thanks anyways. And I hope this helps others with the same problem.

    Inaccesable Boot Device

I had two hard drives one the master, the other the slave. I was dual booting with 98. I tried SP1 and got the message you are talking about. After reading many reply's from the forum. I decide to check my hardware out. I had two things wrong. One was that my second hard drive was on cable select and it had Win2k on it. I changed the jumper to slave. No problem. Then installed the SP1. Same thing again. I was hot. But then someone her suggested that I put Win2k on the master instead of the second drive and believe it or not. It fixed the problem. I now have SP2 on my system without a hitch. Other then SB Live Gamer has to be set to basic acceleration in DX to run D3D games without the crackling. I hope this helps. And by the way if you have an SB Live the other fix is get a different sound card.

    Constant reboot while playing Giants

When playing Giant, the game will reboot when going to another level of the game. I don't understand that. First it would reboot while loading, then I remembered I put -snd3d at the ent of the short cut to enable EAX, Because the game disables it by default. Then I took it off. The game loaded just fine. Then After movie just threw three levels of the game, it would reboot. So I try it again. Got threw three more levels and rebooted again by itself. Now So far I have no crackling like before with my SBLive Gamer. I guess the Service patch's helped that. But of course. It fixs one thing and anoter pops up. any suggestions please.
  10. I have been at this since I installed Win2K. I have applied all service patches. And have the newest drives for SoundBlaster Live Gamer. What is happening? After a while of playing games my sound in the games starts to crackle really bad and loud. So bad you have to turn the volume off. Now sometimes after exiting the games or games it will lock up on the desktop and I have to reboot. These are the games it happens on NFSHS D3D Giants D3D Shogo D3D Soul Reaver D3D I have others but they run in glide or opengl. And I don't get this from them at all. Is there a fix for this. I believe it is only in D3D. Because Unreal Tournment in D3D, will do the same thing. My system specs are. Problem after installing SP2

I have two hard drives and after installing it twice and getting the same result I just uninstalled it. What would happen is the 2nd hard drive which is also 20 gigs and is already formated with NTSF would show that it had to be formated before it could be used. So I did and when it was done it showed only an 8 gig.hard drive. Both times same thing. The main hard drive worked with no problem other then that. But until someone or microsoft can fix or explain this I guess it will be a while before I ever get SP2 to work for me.

    Movie Maker

If somebody does, could they extract the files for the Movie Maker and post them so myself or others could try to install them on Win2K.

    Movie Maker

Is it possible, I have found the files on the WinMe cd. But can not get it to install. Has anyone else had success.
  14. I formated both drives to NTFS. Then did a clean install with the Win2K. Then I installed the SP1 and everything worked just fine. I did it before I installed any drivers. My main problem was that win2K was on the second hard drive and win98SE was on the first hard drive. Once I switched them around It worked just fine. For some reason the SP1 wants Win2K to be on the first hard drive. That is were it looks first. Now I have to Install Linux on the 2nd drive. I just wish Linux supported more games, printers, scanners and pocket pc's. But I still like both. Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I have gone threw all the suggestions, but still cann't get SP1 to take after reboot. I am Dual booting with win98SE and am using a FAT32. Could that be the problem. The Dual booting or that my drives are a FAT32. Win98SE is on one drive, while Win2K is on the other. Any more suggestions would be nice.
