  1. Hi, my flat mate has a laptop with an integrated SIS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter and he has troubels connecting to the in house DSL connection. Even though ipconfig shows that the laptop is connected to the DSL network, he can't open any website and he has no incoming packets on his network connection. Windows XP firewall has been disabled. Trying to ping the gateway address he gets a time out. I hooked his laptop up to my network hub and even then dsl internet did not work from that laptop. Pinging the gateway from my computer works, pinging his laptop works fine and the laptop receives 4 packates per ping prompt but apart from that nothing is coming in. It can't be the cable as we tried it with my laptop cable which is working perfectlly for me. We allready checked that our network connections are setup identically but nothing seems to help. Does anybody know what else we could try and perhaps what might be the cause of the whole problem? Thanks in advance and kind regards, Marek
  2. Hey ! Thanks a lot, it works.
  3. Hi, does anybody know if and how it's possible to turn off the "Low Disk Space" message in the system tray area in Windows XP ? I find it quite annoying when Windows XP tells me every few minutes that I'm running out of disk space on certain drives. Thanks in advance. Kind regards....Marek
  4. Hi, I think I'm not the only one in the world who is wondering how to tell Win 2000 to toggle on NumLock. Everytime Win 2K boots up it turnos off the Numlock status. However I'd like to have it turned on so that it doesn't need to be done manually each time you boot up and log-on. Is there any registry key which to change to achive it, or is there somewhere an checkbo in the control panel for it which I didn't find so far :-) ? Thanks in advance. Kind Regards....Marek
  5. Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to change the netowrk computer name for different hardware profiles under Windows NT4, so that depending on which profile I choose at the startup I appear with a different computer name in the network. Thanks in advance. Kind Regards, Marek
  6. Hello, I'm having problems installing Windows NT 4 on a notebook with a 20 GB hard drive. From my own PC I know that Win NT handles a 20 GB hd quite well once SP6 is installed, but that's not a big help for installing NT. Booting from the NT CD the setup progam runs well and copies the installation files on the hard drive. But when it is required to reboot for the first time, NT setup shuts the computer down and restarts it, but there is no rebotting. Simply nothing happens. I guess it has to do with the size of the HD, but is there a way to properly install NT on that notebook ??? I know that installing Win 2000 would probably work well, but the user if the notbook requires Windows NT 4 for his work. Thanks in advance Kind Regards, Marek
