    Via Chipset and windows 2000

Hiya people i really am truely ****** off to the max atm, ive installed the 4.25(a) via motherboard drivers and use 1004 flash, and it still locks up in windows 2000! if i try loading any 3d games etc it just locks the system up and all i can do is reboot, god VIA are crap, they are giving AMD a rubbish reputation at the moment for compatibility, why do they put up with it??? anyways, can anyone help me solve this please? thanks ------------------ homicide
  9. Hi guys/girls I got Win2k installed recently.. and it has locked my DVD region... and i dont know where to find Remote selector 1.77 to see if it will work.. i have downloaded a firmware patch which is supposed to make it RPC1 or something as opposed to RPC2 which is what locks it as RPC1 wasnt region locked. so i go into dos and type the following; FLASHUP 2601idar.dld 2 /c ^^^^^ that meaning that my dvd drive should be hooked up as secondary master... BUT its setup as primary slave... so what would the end syntax's be to make it primary slave? also ASPI.dll's it doesnt see my dvd drive when i try use "driveinfo" and ive d/l'd the ASPI.dll's and they are installed in the correct directories.. HELP! Thnxs ------------------ homicide

    Unexpected Lock-ups in Win2k....plz read..

ill tell you what your problem with your machine is... as i have the exact same problem and i have a **** load of cooling on my machine with a; Asus A7V AMD Tbird 1ghz 256ram Geforce 2 GTS blahblah.... win2k its the problem with Windows 2000 and the VIA chipset on the motherboard.. windows 2000 does not support the chipset very weel at the moment.. as ive found out, my machine will lockup any time... even if ive just rebooted.. it may lockup,.. very frustrating. anyway try thisd patch from microsoft and see if it helps. it didnt help me, but anythings worth a go. http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/recommended/q261606/default.asp This update resolves the "Video Hangs When Running 3-D Graphics Programs" vulnerability in Windows 2000. When you run a program that uses 3-D Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) on a Windows 2000-based computer that uses the VIA AGP chipset, your computer may stop responding. This vulnerability is caused by incomplete support for the VIA chipset in the Windows 2000 AGP drivers. Download now to add driver support for your VIA AGP chipset. ------------------ homicide
