DirectX 8.0 - missing inf file

Not sure what went wrong, but you can check if your download is corrupted quite easily. Browse to where you downloaded DX80NTeng.exe, right click on it, Properties, open the Digital Signatures tab, click Details and after a little while it should say "The digital signature is OK."
  2. It's in the iereadme.txt among others. I guess it's unusual for someone to read files called "readme." Quote: To perform a Download Only on Windows 2000, see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q257/2/49.asp
  3. Quote: the more and more things you install the more and more files get protected by the system so everyboot its replacing those files that were 'replaced by unrecognized versions' which makes the system take longer to boot. That's not true. SFP immediately puts the original versions back the second they are replaced by 'unrecognized versions.'

    games under nt4 "server"

Sure you can. There is no difference between NT4 Workstation and Server in OpenGL or Glide support. Just install the latest 3dfx drivers and play some. You might have some trouble with sound though, NT4 didn't support DirectSound acceleration. On the other hand, D3D games are a definite NO under NT4.
  5. Go to Start -> Run, type in dxdiag, select the More Help tab and use the Override button to set the refresh rate for all Direct3D and DirectVideo apps.
