  1. adamvjackson hi, i never say that MS removed icc profiles. Actually up[censored] XP with SP1 keeps Winxp bundled profiles. After a clean installation of a slipstreamed xp/sp1 version icc profiles didn't install as they should. That's the problem. And btw i tested that on many slipstreamed installations and various machines.
  2. Before slipstreaming my XP/Pro with SP1 (final) i used it as an ordinal update. That way i had some (about ten) icc & icm color profiles installed as default under windows/system32/spool/drivers/color directory I speak about profiles bundled with original WinXP/Pro not additional ones that come with extra devices (scanners etc) After slipstreaming and reinstalling WinXP/sp1 i notice only three of them in the same folder and all the others are missing. I reburned a new SP1 slipstream using the original XP/CD plus the SP1 CD which MS sent to me. Same results Did you notice such an "issue" when clean install a slipstreamed XP version ? Any idea ? regards
  3. Don't bother, i've found it !!!
  4. Hi, I have the following problem with my local network (3 computers XP/Pro based). I cannot log to a remote computer registry or computer management console through the normal "connect to a remote..." menu selection in regedit and management console. Although i did that as administrator and the admin account is the same across the three workstations i cannot connect. I've got a message that login failed or access denied. All of the workstations have the builtin administrator account with the same password, and each of them also has a local user account and the guest enabled thanks
  5. Hi, I'd like to use ISDN call on single line with the option to resume second line not on demand but whenever i like to. Until now i dial using "Only first available device" option in properties and when i need more speed i open status / properties, change the above option to "All devices", close properties / status, reopen it and resume next line. I found that way a bit difficult so is it possible to have "Resume" button always available even when dialing a single line ? thanks

Corel Draw 10 and WINDOWS XP

Sorry to dissapoint you but CorelDraw 10 DOESN'T work well under XP. In our company's drafting dept we're ready to switch to Illustrator after twelve years using Corel. CD10 has many many problems under Win2k as well as when using XP but now i found many XP specific issues. - It doesn't recognize user security permissions so you should make many registry and path modifications just to run it. - It has many memory leaks that cause CARM problems and lockups - Postscript printing problems - Printing preview lockups - Saving backups and autobackups errors Search Corel newsgroups for many other XP/CD10 issues that Corel SP1 does not fix. Also Corel's support really sucks. They almost never answer email or newsgroup posts.

    IE6 final problem

    > did you try the Tools->Internet Options->Advanced in IE6 I don't think there is an option there to disable this download check.

    IE6 final problem

Hi, Last night i installed IE6 final (6.0.2600.000) on top of IE55/sp2. Almost everything looks running ok except a weird problem i never met before. When i try to download directly from an HTTP or FTP site using IE6, i get a download window asking to "OPEN" or "SAVE" this kind of file. I know this window is common but i cannot uncheck the "Always ask before opening this kind...". Even unchecking this box, next time the dialog ask box fires again. I always have unchecked the "Confirm open after download" checkbox on "Folder Options" - "File types", at least for common extensions (.ZIP etc) The strange thing is that on some sites (always using same extension (zip)) download starts immediately after clicking the link without showing the above dialog or asking where to save. On other sites IE6 has the above strange behavour. Any ideas ?
  9. I reinstall Win2k/Pro on the same computer every week or so (it's part of my work to test clean installations). The problem is that win2k need almost an hour to format a 100GB hard disk (NTFS). The only option to make things faster is to overwrite a previous installation, but in that case Windows overwrite most system files but leaves all the other (old programs, data etc). Do you know any "quick format" method available on installation or just before ? It would be nice (at least for me) to reinstall Win2k in less than an hour... Thanks
  10. Hi, I own three SB Live 5.1 Platinum installed in P3 and P4 equipped windows 2000 Pro computers (Intel chipsets 815,820,850). I don't use the whole Liveware as i don't need all the features and accessory apps. I've installed just the drivers from Creative CD. The problem i have is Whenever i try to record through mic (card or drive) using any kind of recording program including windows sound recorder i'm getting clean and loud sound just for one to three recordings. After a while recording volume becomes noisy and very low. I'm getting the same results when using internet phone programs. My voice is load and clear in the begining of transmition but after a while it becomes very low and scratchy. The same problem exist on all the three computers i own. I had similar problem with my previous SB Live Plat(not 5.1). I tried the whole Liveware with the same and sometimes worst problems. I also tried to decrease hardware acceleration without success Even clean installation without any peripherals or other drivers didn't solve this problem BTW after the volume decrease only hard reset fix the problem but just for some minutes (random) Please help me if you know anything on this issue as i'm going to throw away all my SB cards.

good pagefile size for 256mb ram?

I used to have fixed pagefile (1024MB) located on a second scsi160 harddisk. The problem is that manytimes CorelDraw 10 run very slow. I changed the pagefile size to 512MB and 2GB with no success. After change it from fix to variable size Corel work very fast again. I don't know what cause this problem but i've tested Corel on over than ten different Win2K systems with the same results. All systems including mine use 512MB or Rambus PC800/ECC memory

  13. Hi, I use an MS Intellimouse Explorer plus latest intellipoint (3.2) driver under Win2K. Recently my mouse cursor start to move erratic, whenever i try to move it arround it jumps in other position near original. I know about the famous Intellipoint movement problems but this issue has nothing to do with optical coder resolution and the rest intellieye problems. I never use mouse for games so i have no problem with its response lag on fast movements. My problem is the jumps and erratic movements while i move cursor just a few centimeters over the desktop. I saw some posts in newsgroups on that specific issue as well as some Microsoft faq sections but the only solution they suggest is removal and reinstallation of Intellipoint 3.2 I did that after i cleaned all registry keys and my mouse did worked fine for two weeks. Then it still jumps and moves BTW i use the USB version on i850 boards and all the USB peripherals i had when my mouse had no problem. I tested two more new (boxed) intellimice with the same issues. Ofcourse a reformating and Win2k reinstallation will fix those problems but that's not the point. So i need to know your experience on that specific Intellimouse / intellipoint 3.2 problems, if you ever had, and your comments on possible solution...

Best usb video camera for win2k

I tried many of these small webcams but a few of them work nice under Win2k. Today i use Creative Webcam 3 and the more advanced Webcam Go Plus (also a digital camera). Nice drivers and some interesting apps are also included.
