It's the noise of the Maxtor when it's in operation that gets on my nerves, my Dad has 2 of them in RAID, I can just about manage with my 40 gig Deathstar on though, took it out of my main rig, but desperatley need to replace the 40 gig in my main rig now as I need to do a clean install of Windows and nothing to back 30 gigs plus downloads to.

Hmm ouch, I have 3 death stars and was considering buying a Seagate for my server box, that only leaves me with Maxtor or Western Digital, darn, I need silent drives!!

Selling this stuff as it's no longer needed and just sitting around doing nothing. Yes my Voodoo Card works, but not in my XP system, works fine in the 200 MMX for old games.

It might be something to do with the modme and another device sharing an IRQ and the are confilicting not releasing the IRQ on shut down. I've got the same problem in my Athlon 850 system that I built for my sister.

The Voodoo 1 card I have in my 200 MMX box sits int he Sound Game and Video controller in system properties.

I'm in desperate need of a SCSI card to drive my Seagate Cheetah drive (I have some more of these drives coming soon), I currently have an Adaptec 2904 PCI, but it has no bios and I did something with the Seagate utulity and screwed the drive up and the only way I can now fix it is if I have a SCSI card with bios, oh yeah and the relvant cable to go with the card would be nice too seeing as I have a cable converter on the drive from whatever it is to a 50 pin cable. I can't afford much either so it's going to have to be cheap.

Just recently I was gievn an 18 gig SCSI Seagate Cheetah, and although it runs as sweet as a nut in WIndows 98, I can't for the life of me get it to run in Windows XP Pro. With the SCSI card (Adaptec 2904, has no bios) I get as far as the XP flash screen and then I get a stop error message saying there's soemthing not right with ntfs.sys. I even tried re-installing XP over the top of my existing setup, but I get the same error message. So in desparation I took my new 40 gig drive out of my system for the time being, set my 20 gig drive back as master, installed WIndows 98 and the SCSI drive works perfectly. The only thing I can think of is that the SCSI drive, on it somewhere has an NTFS partition (must run Partition magic to find that out) and it also has a fat 32 partition (both my 40 and 20 gig drives are set for fat 32) So I'm asuming that if there is an NTFS patition on the SCSI drive that might be why there's a spanner in the works. Anyway ideas? I'd love to get this SCSI beast working working in Win XP (well at 10,000 RPM, who wouldn't?) Behemoth

Ok got it sorted, found that there was an NTFS partition on the drive which was upsetting XP as all my current drives are fat 32, now got a sector to deal with. Behemoth

The SCSI hard drive is the only SCSI device I have. I used to have a 4 X SCSI CDR drive but that died long ago. Behemoth

Umm err it's not very often I put in a request for help anywhere but this problm really has me beat. I decided it was high time I installed Win2K on my machine again (trying to move away from 9x) but every time I try all I get is a stop message saying Can't_Read_Boot_Device . . . The only thing I can put this down to is my promise ATA 100 controller on my Asus A7V, I've never had htis problem with Win 2k before on ym old mother board, any help is greatly appeciated, I need something for stable than Win Me and at this present moment I'm stuck with my machine having 2 boot options 1) Contune Windows 2000 Setup 2) Microsoft Windows And at present I don't wanna format my drive either. Just to prove that theres nothin gwrong with my hard drive I got hold of another identical Samsung Spin Point 20 gig drive and I got the same error message. Any ideas? Or do I have to abandon hope of using Win 2k altogether?? Behemoth

Ahh someone with the same motherboard as me. Anyway will try the different IDE port when I try to install again sometime thjis week, just have to drop my drive on the UDMA 66 and hopefuly it should work that way. Behemoth

All USB devicse are off Scanner, Printer and modem un plugged but will try that one. Just got the latest drivers doewn for the ATA controller so will give those a shot, if all else fails clean install here I come. Behemoth

Win ME is totally useless. I treid my luck with it the other day, thought it cou;dn't be as bad as everyone said it was so I installed it. Wish I hadn't. I was soon reaching for my Win 98 SE CD again. It's strange though that my Dad's PC, a 1.2 gig Axia runs WIndows ME wthout any trouble at all (I guess he must be lucky, he;s had the machine now for the last 3 months and Windows ME hasn't crashed once!) But my T Bird 900 well it coughed and spluttered, I've never seen so many BSOD's in all my life. I had to wipe my wntire drive clean because Windows ME dumped a load of sh*t on my D partitoin which made Win 98 crash. My conclusion is that Win 98 SE is the bets version of Windows based ont he 9x code. Behemoth

I'm getting Win XP next week, unfortunatley my GeForce 2 MX dided on me yesterday so I'm having to use a n 8 Meg Matrox G100 until I get my GeForce 2 MX replaced. Wil X work with the G100?? GeForce 2 MX RIP

You need the Voodoo 3 patch from EA for it to work properly with your Voodoo 3, I have the patch. If you need me to I'll post it somewhere for you. Behemoth

Hello all! I'm at the end of my rope, yesterday evening my Dad's Asus A7V motherboard's PS/2 ports died. We can't use the keyboard or the mouse. I put on a USB keyboard and mouse and we get the same problem. We can get into the bios but thats it beyond that point we can't use the keyboard. The machine gflashes up the Win ME logo, then asks about safe mode but as wecan't do nething about it the machine tries to load into safe mode and just crashes after a few seconds. What I don't understand is that I can get in to the bios and use the keyboard, but beoynd that point nothing. I'm really puzzled by this problem, ne1 got any ideas? Behemoth

I'm no idiot when it come to computer, I checked all the bios options for USB and PNP O/S, neither beyaboard worked. I left the machine for while and came back to to it yesterday, turned on and the thing worked. Plugged the usb keyboard back in and neither one worked again, so we ordered a new mothe board and which should arrive ay home by the time I get home from college. The replacment, well with any luck for the faulty board will end up in my machine replacing my aging Slot Athlon system, wish I coud afford a a 1.2 Ghz T Bird, but looks like I'm goingto have to make do with a 900 Duron.
