I have two 18GB SCSI drives. Drive 0 has two partitions: c:\ which is 2GB and currently has NT4 on it and d:\ (16GB) which has W2K Pro on it. I now want to get rid of NT4 on C:\ and install Win98SE there instead so I can still play the odd game (I find W2K games support is still pretty bad). How do I do this? The C:\ drive is formatted with FAT so can I just bung the Win98 CD and install to the C:\ drive over the top of NT4? If I do this what will happen to my dual boot menu? I still want W2K to be the default but the menu would need to lose NT4 and gain Win98. (Maybe I have to edit boot.ini myself?) I don't wanna just dive in and do it in case I screw it all up!! Anybody got any help for me on this one?

Thanks for the reply - yes I am in the UK and I bought the game when I lived in Australia (which means it is probably the US version). I did try changing the locale which didn't make any difference but I will try changing it in both locations and see what happens. Cheers!

I had the same problem... I thought you ran each game by saying 'setwin95 <game.exe>'. You don't.... all SetWin95 does is patch the executable to think it is running under '95. You need to first copy setwin95.cmd to a directory in your path (eg: \winnt\system32) then go to the directory that <game.exe> is in and type 'setwin95 <game.exe>' and it will patch it. Then run it normally. It's worked for me though only on about half the games I've tried.

Having seen on the compatible games list that QII (original version) should run under W2K without problems I tried to install it. I tried both the normal setup.exe and also the one in the /install directory. On both occasions it tells me that Quake does not run "under this langauge version of Windows 95/NT". Does that mean I have to change the locale of my PC? How can I find out what language version it is expecting? I also want to install Half Life (the original version 1.0) - what do I need to do to get it to run on W2K? Download the latest patch? Or do I have to download some 'critical update' patches for it? Since I have never updated it (I don't play games very often!) I can't find any info on what I need to do to get it to run on W2K.
