Sb Live! and Live!Ware 4. When??

Yeah. Some people claimed Creative would release Liveware 4 after Windows ME hit the market. But it hasn't been this way, and creative has released a special liveware 3.0 for Windows ME (Kinda surprising, since WINME uses WDM like W98, and vxd like 9x). So, spect liveware sometime in the future. But BE PATIENT, because creative never takes SBlive driver updates seriously

Winddows NT 4.0 vs Windows 2000: Why Should I Upgrade?

Well, I have only 128 MB of ram, and windows 2000 pro runs faster than windows 98 (except if you have 98lite :-)).

    Internet slower in Win98?

326.8 KB/S With a cable modem? I don't beleive it. At least, with a 512Kbs line speed which is the maximum available, at leat, here, in Europe. Do they exist lines with more than 2mbps bandwhich for CONSUMERS?

    Video card drivers wouln't work

You should have used the NVIDIA uninstal program in the add/remove applet in the control panel. As it seems it's a bit too late to do that: go to device manager, look for your videocard entry and go to driver tab. Click on upgrade driver and when prompted, select "let me choose a driver from a list". Specify the location of your 6.41 drivers, and windows will reinstall everything. Lets pray this helps you...

    Whistler Locks up !?

Since Whistler is based on the same code than WinNT/2000, you could try to Disable EXTERNAL CACHE in your bios. This can make your system more stable (but you will lose a bit of performance).

Have you ever been soooo Riled up, you just wanna....

Well, PCI64 is an old card, but I must recognise creative has behaved too bad. PCI64 is not so complex (it's basically an ensoniq PCI soundcard), and the only problem that it could have would be the ECW soundfont manager. I beleive creative hasn't released anything because they think is is better for their sales to FORCE their customers to upgrade to a live 1024 player. Remeber that Sblive liveware 3 drivers came after TWO MONTHS from the stimated release date, and NO ADVISE was made on their official website. And liveware 4 for windows 2000 and Windows ME is spected to be released between september and October, but I'd rather say it won't, and we'll have to wait till new year eve! Buy another sound card (a maxigamer is a very good choice, and there are already drivers for windows 2000).
  13. In previous nvidia's releases, there was an option under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Nvidia\Corporation\Riva TNT\Display called NoStrechInterpolation. When you set that option to 0, windows would smooth graphics when resizing a windows. This also created a nice interpolation efect, very usefull in directx aplications. Since there doesn't seem to be any similar key in windows 2000 drivers, does anybody know any website with detonator 3 registry keys explained, or any way to re-enable hardware interpolation. PS: I beleive Microsoft calls this "HARDWARE BLIT".

    Win2000 IRQ SETUP Need Help

Windows 2000 IRQ sharing is an improvemnt from older windows 9x. It shouldn't be a problem. However, if you want to disable this sharing, you will have to change your system type to Standard PC. Go to device manager, choose ACPI computer, and go to properties. Choose "driver" tab, and click on "update driver...". When the wizard prompts you, choose "choose from a list of devices". Finally choose "standard computer" from. Reboot and wait while all system devices all redetected and asigned an irq. I strongly discourage disabling ACPI, since you would loose some nice features like suspend, and automatical power-off on shutdown.

    Whistler discussion

I am a bit sceptical about this NT kernel migration project that is MS.Whistler. I like this OS, but I honestly think it will be the same story like windows 2000. Remember those comments made by MS which said W2000 Pro would replace NT 4 & 98...well, I BELEIVED THEM. Now I use w2000, and games work well, it doesn't crash anymore (like w98 did), and unlike MS thinks, I use my computer basically at home. If Whistler runs all games, it will be because most of them will be already compatible with win2000, not because it is a "perfect" os. By the way (this is for you, DOSFREAK): I like skins, and I don't think this OS will be slower than it's older companions (9x & NT). Microsoft is changing GDI model. A new version, called GDI+ is to be shipped with Whistler. It will have antialiasting text, non opace windows support, bilinear filtering (or some kind of filtering) and some nice features that will use our 3d H/W accelerators to the max. Windows 2000 is an example: there is alpha bleding support (transparent menus), and directdraw is ALWAYS ON. In other words: DOS is death. Use NT kernel, or linux, or BEOS.

Need to deny Guest access to Drives

Quote: Do you have to be NTFS formatted to have secure drives? Yeah, FAT32 wasn't designed to be scalable, or secure. In NTFS, each file can have a comment, and restrictions. You wil have to convert it to NTFS. Remember that if you move to NTFS, you can't boot windows 9x on the same partition. To convert your drive to NTFS: Go to command prompt and type: CONVERT driveletter: /FS:NTFS [/V] where driveletter is the letter of your drive (obviosly). The /V switch is not obligatory, but shows the progress of the conversion. You CANNT SWITCH FROM NTFS back to FAT32 with this utility.

How do I enable strech interpolation in 6.18 (detonator 3) d

Well, software mode lacked those features. Maybe directx for windows 2000 doesn't allow those features...

AGP and Direct3d disabled on Win2000 with TNT2U

Well, in my riva TNT 1 card, AGP support is also disabled, but direct3d works fine. This "NO AGP" issue is common to all detonator drivers from 3.78 RC2. Uninstall 6.18 drivers with the add-remove applet from the control panel. Reboot twice (this ensures windows 2000 REALLY cleans tnt trash/garbage from your registry). Finally, install again 6.18 drivers and try them.

How do I enable strech interpolation in 6.18 (detonator 3) d

No, it is not exactly this. I don't use DVD players. The fact is that I use many emulators, and I've noticed that resizing a window decreases FPS a lot. If I disable "scale image to fit window", it runs smooth. I KNOW it is an specific driver issue, because windows 98 supported this, but windows 2000 doesn't.

All my PCI and AGP cards share the same IRQ!

This is not an specific intel 815 chipset issue. In my asus p5a, when I boot, all my devices are asigned an irq, but when I boot in windows 2000, they all share irq 9. Anyway, this ACPI irq sharing issue is not a problem for me. My system works stable and smooth, with and without irq sharing.
