Do you see any benefit in ....

I created a dual-boot on my system to play games in Win98SE, but I never use it. SP1 even fixed the mouse problem in AvP so I use W2K for everything now.

Aliens vs. Predator Gold compatibility problems with Win2k

I tried using DirectX 8 version 0079 and it doesn't help with the mouse problem. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game, that didn't help either. Can you think of anything else you might be doing differently that could be of help? I'm using a cheap Microsoft wheel mouse, but any other mouse I use doesn't work either. Any help would be much appreciated, I'd really like to get this game to work without going back to Win98. Thanks.

Aliens vs. Predator Gold compatibility problems with Win2k

ledzeppel, I've searched the net over and couldn't find it. If you (or anyone else) could post a link where you got it, you'd sure get a lot of appreciation from us frustrated AvP players. To anyone else, I'll keep my eyes open for it and if I find a link I'll post it here.

Aliens vs. Predator Gold compatibility problems with Win2k

Yep, I'm having the same problem. Whenever I try to move the mouse and fire at the same time, it won't fire. When I set up a keyboard key to fire, the problem goes away. So it must be a problem with the way the mouse works, Mabye DirectX related? I have not seen this problem in any other game I play, e.g., Q3A, UT, Unreal, Half-Life, etc. If anyone has a solution let us know. And if anyone runs AvP in W2K without problems, let us know what kind of mouse you're using. Thanks!

Promise Ultra33 IDE controller and W2K?

My sysetm has a Promise Ultra33 controller with two hard drives attached. I ran Microsoft's chkupgrd.exe to check my hardware and it makes no mention of this controller. But, this controller is not on Microsoft's hardware compatibility list. Nor does Promise have any drivers for W2K. Does anyone know if it will work in W2K with the NT4 drivers?
  7. I thought that some of you here might find this interesting... http://www.anandtech.com/webnews.html#7853 May 10th, 2000 6:03 PM - Brandon Hill Source: Email Category: News That is truly some sad news. Seems kinda strange seeing as how 3dfx is due to be releasing Windows 2000 drivers for its multi-chip Voodoo 5 5500 shortly after its release. Thanks to Xanathar for sending me the email: "Dear Customer, You have previously contacted our Microsoft Windows 2000 feedback email address to comment or inquire about RAGE FURY MAXX drivers and support for the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system. I regret to inform you that our plan to provide a RAGE FURY MAXX driver for the Windows 2000 operating system cannot be completed. Due to issues with enumerating the chip ID's, of the dual RAGE 128 PRO graphics chips, we are unable to complete the driver for our RAGE FURY MAXX card. ATI sincerely apologizes for promising a driver to you and then being unable to complete it. This was an unforeseen technical issue during the development of the Windows 2000 RAGE FURY MAXX drivers. For those customers who wish to contact me directly to comment on this situation, please email me at cservice@ati.com. I welcome your comments and feedback."

    Need W2K drivers for a Brooktree/ixTV card...

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for!!!
  9. I'm planning on upgrading to Windows 2000 but I first need drivers for my ixTV card. Unfortunately ixMicro is out of business. The card is a BT848 Video Capture Device and works well under BeOS 5 without any drivers from ixTV. Considering that, I was wondering if anyone knew of any reference drivers from Brooktree that might work in W2K. I looked at Brooktree's site but it only suggests to look to the board manufacturers' sites, which is of no help to me. I guess I could dump the card, it was dirt cheap, and get a new one. But if anyone knows of another way to get this card to work I'd really appreciate it. BTW, I don't care about capturing, I only need drivers for the TV part! Thanks.
