like the title says has anybody got star trek generations too work on win2k it crashes when i try too run it but it installs just fine B.T.W people who still play dos games and want sound in those games on win2k on this page there is a program named vdmsound it isnt finished yet but a lot of dosgames can play sound with this utility ( hell if you want sound with all youre dos games just buy soundfx 2000 ) ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

hi there guys i have a problem or better yet my nephew had a problem His system - p2 350 - qdi mainboard ( via mobo ) - 64 mb ram ( yea i know this isnt quit enough for win2k ) - 48 speed creative cdrom drive - hp 8100 cd burner - seagate 13.4 gig harddrive - soundblaster 128 pci now here is the problem win2k installs just fine and runs fine also but whenever he turns off the computer ( through win2k offcourse ) and he turns it back on win2k will fail too boot at the splash screen of win2k ( shutdown works proparly ) the only way too get win2k going again is too clear his bios setup ( you know with the jumper thingie ) and then all of a suddon win2k will boot again This is strange and if anybody knows a sollution please do so because this is just plain weird p.s win2k is installed as an standard pc not acpi system ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

well i am positive that it was the creative voodoo banshee which was causing the freeze because now my nephew is using an ati rage pro 3d and his system runs like a train no lockups anymore ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

hi guys i have a third system now and i want too connect it too the internet using a phone line i have a modem which has the connectix chipset on it i installed win2000 and everythin works except the modem because microsoft didnt had any drivers for this modem i looked on driverguide for drivers but there are only win98 drivers and the connectix site www.connectix.com didnt supply any drivers ( hell i cant find any drivers on it for that fact ) can anybody help me on win2k drivers for this modem because i am desperate ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

hi guys i was wondering win2k uses a systemcache but i find that win2k uses too much of my memory for its systemcache ( i know it shrinks itself if needed ) but i was wondering if i could limit the systemcache too what i want ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

has anybody tried the nt4 drivers for the sblive with a special fix you can use these drivers in win2k too but i dont know if you have eax and or surround sound or if anything isnt functioning right i do know that it has directsound support because nt4 users can only use these drivers if they have service pack 3 or higher and those service packs include directx for nt4 ( not 7 tho ) has anybody tried it and does it work ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

i dont care about disabling services anymore i already disabled the ones i dont need but what i do need is set the systemcache too a fixed size or at the very least 25% smaller than i have now and i know this is possible. ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

well that wasnt much of an answer was it i know that i can limit it because a program named x-tegsetup can increase the system cache ( use large systemcache ) but i want to decrease it and i think that could be possible also. ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

hello everybody i have 2 systems and p3 and an k6-2 on the p3 windows 2000 runs perfectly with noissues what soever but the k6-2 isnt working at all with windows 2000 windows 2000 installs itself ok but when the installation is finished and it loads up my computer freezes how is this possible and how can i resolve this the specs for the k6-2 machine are as follows - amd k6-2 450 mhz processor - via mvp3 mobo - 128 mb pc 100 cas 2 ram - soundblaster 16 pci - voodoo 3 2000 pci - realtek 8029(as) network card - quantem fireball 4,1 gig harddrive in the bios i have disabled acpi because otherwise windows 2000 wouldnt install and i have configured windows 2000 as an standard pc if anyone has an idea please say so because i really really dont want to return too win98 ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

hey guys thanx for all the info but i solved my problem the problem was tht i had my usb irq disabled ( without it it still works in win98 ) but in win2k it needs an irq or the system hangs well now i finally have it going thanx guys for the help ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

sorry to disappoint you but that isnt the sollution i do get a picture on my screen and the mouse cursor and all and i get too the networking thing ( you know where you can set the user wich is mostly behind this system so that you wont have to type in the username and pass anymore everytime win2k starts ) but after that is finished it just freezes i cant move the mouse and all that stuff and after an hour is still was frozen ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

udma is disabled and win2k hangs when loading the desktop cache is 512 kb motherboard supports 450 mhz k6 -2 bus speed is set at 100 mhz safe mode is succesvol an the system is ahx not overclocked the internal cache is 128 kb revision unknown for the motherboard cannot find it anywhere on the board ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

well tristan777 i hve waited for about an hour and it still didnt start up so i think it is really frozen and euankirkhope i already tried that f4 stuff in my first message i already said i have configured win2000 as an standard pc and i have tried removing the network card and al the other cards except the video card and still nothing ------------------ revence is a dish best served cold

hi guys i recently installed windows 2000 and everything works great but since i have a sblive card and i have surround speakers i needed to install liveware 2000 so that i could use my surround set with it. But when i installed it and rebooted i started the game star trek armada but now the sound is distorted and the only way i could get the sound working was by decreasing the acceleration level to basic but by doing this directsound3d and eax got disabled wich i both use a lot in games. i have tried to email creative but they don`t have any idea whatsoever so if someone knows a fix pleasy let me know < going back to win95/98 is out of the guestion bacause these osses are just a piece of crap. >

Poldii if i use the basic driver of windows 2000 i don`t have directsound 3d and eax and no surround to because the basic drivers don`t support this

cdspaco read my message again and you will see that i already have turned down the acceleration level to basic but i want to keep it at full because otherwise i cannot use directsound3d and eax

i have installed redalert without the compatible tool. i just put the cd in the cdrom drive and the installer popt up and the install didn`t give me any problems. i am also working with win2k. p.s i have noticed this: if you install win2k over youre win98 you might have a better change at getting games to run because some files won`t be overwritten bij win2k because they are already newer or have the same version number. star trek hidden evil didn`t want to install either when i had a clean win2k installed but when i upgraded win98 to win2k and tried to install that game it worked and gave no problems.
