Your mention of Songspy prompted this reply. Look on your system for a file MSBB.exe. I believe that this is causing your problem with volunteer ad's. Remove this file and you should be okay.

Just noticed that the Liveware 3 for Soundblaster Live & Windows 2000 is now available for download

Had BSOD too...restored from Drive Image 3 so got out of the woods. Somewhere along the line a critical file is the problem. in the /windows(winnt)/system32/drivers folder find cdr4vsd.sys. If 401 patch or whatever has made this version 2.50.80, you need to get back to the 2.5.0.75 version from your original install disk (do a search), replace the newer one with this one, then run the 402 patch. This was my solution, hope you are also as successful.
