    Not enough memory? My 4$$!

For some arcane reason Photoshop, at least thru version 5.5, requires a minimum 10MB swapfile on your Win2K drive. It won't start otherwise and will give that exact error message. Add a 10MB swapfile to your %systemroot% drive and you'll be set... Drew

    Whistler Install Problems.......

are you overclocking? try pulling unessential hardware piece by piece before installing. sometimes one piece of hardware will cause the whole shebang to die during installation. if you succeed in installing then, after it's done pop the hardware back in and let Whistler detect 'n' install. drew

Help with whistler, or I'll cry..please

Start menu: Go to Start menu properties (right click the start button to get there), then press Alt-D... Start page: It's an Active Desktop item, though it's broken. Make your Active Desktop the Startpage.htm that's in the windows/web/startpage folder. drew [This message has been edited by drewc (edited 22 August 2000).]

Help with whistler, or I'll cry..please

It's strange how whistler behaves. Both 2223.1 and 2250 installed just fine on my old Crapard-Bell system (P233 MMX) from the get-go, with no BIOS mods necessary (it was already set to non-PNP OS). Granted, it might be that the only parts left of the original Crapard-Bell system are the mobo and video... drew

Partition Magic Update Now Available but....

I did check it out for myself and what did I see there? A link to download the patch... You need a valid PQ site username/password, and the registered serial number of the PM5 CD, but if you've registered you're set... drew ------------------ 233 MMX (overclocked from 200) 96 MB RAM 12.5 GB HD on a Promise Ultra66 S3 Trio64V+ video Soundblaster Live! keyboard driver prevents hibernating?!

Adobe Type Manager for NT also causes this very same problem - once installed, the keyboard driver prevents hibernation. Frustrated the hell out of me too... Some guy in the forums on the Adobe website managed to track it down to one (unneeded in Win2K) file, ATMHELPR.SYS in the system32/drivers directory, which screws things up. Delete it and boom, you're hibernating... ------------------ 233 MMX (overclocked from 200) 96 MB RAM 12.5 GB HD on a Promise Ultra66 S3 Trio64V+ video Soundblaster Live! 10. IIRC IE5 only remembers window sizes when you manually adjust them by pulling the edges. I seem to remember being able to fix this to some degree by manually resizing the first spawned window to the size I wanted for all spawned windows, and then immediately closing it and then the main IE window (therefore exiting IE). Open IE again and it should remember your size specs. Although sometimes it doesn't, and you're still screwed... Hope this helps. drew ------------------ 233 MMX (overclocked from 200) 96 MB RAM 12.5 GB HD on a Promise Ultra66 S3 Trio64V+ video Soundblaster Live! Lexmark Drivers!!

I was able to get my 5700 ColorFine to install just fine using the NT4 install diskettes - just popped in the diskette, start/run/a:/setup.exe and off she went. No probs with spoolsrv.exe, nothing - although I have noticed that bidirectional communication seems not to be working (the print status dialog box doesn't indicate what percentage is left to be printed as it used to in NT4). But at least I can print, install cartridges, etc etc... If I have to use my eyes to tell me when to install a new cartridge as opposed to the driver, that's fine for now. drew
