Maybe they are afraid of the Internet Connection Sharing features are built into Win2k, if more people knew, and were running Win2k the bandwith would go threw the roof if people started useing it . . just my .002

Hey guys . . .I too have a Sidewinder and a SidewinderPro . . .I could get the controlers to work under 2k but the buttons would not work . . .I FINALLY got my hands on the Sidewinder software v4.x and it installs on 2k, but I read somewhere that it only works with the USB version on the gamepads . . . .I tryed to get it to work with the Sidewinder ( not the pro ) but it has the gameport connection and it would not . . .to sum things up . . .I love Windows2k but, it you really want you Sidewinder gamepad to work with the button profiles either get a GamepadPro w/USB connection or get a dual boot . . . You know it really sucks . . . .I have been running 2k right after rc2 was released and I have loved EVEY minute of it, but I got a MS Sidewinder Gamepad and a MS Sidewinder Pro so I could play Boarder Zone and not have to use the keyboard, the machine is stable, so stable I have switched my work PC over, but for the life of me I can not get the Button Profiles to work under 2k even with the 4.x drivers for the gamepads. If you could give some help, please save me from Windows98 ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Hey Guys . . .I got a Sidewinder Pro gamepad and if I goto the Control Panel>Game Controlers> I can see the Sidewinder Pro and it tests out OK, I can test all of the buttons and calibrate the joystick everything works OK . . .but when I start a game ( like BorderZone, NFS5, . . ) the joystick part works great, but the buttons are dead . . .I think that it is because I do not have the key mapping software installed and all that I can find is 3.02. People have posted that v4.0 will install after a warning on Win2k but I cannot find the software . . .can anyone help? Well I came home and installed it and it worked ! ! !! they have gotten rid of the installer problems that the last version had and it does support win2k ! ! build 2195 v3 3k on a celeron 300a@450 Quake3 16bit color ( duh ) 32 bit testures 800*600 =44.9 1024*768 =34.9 =)

Hey guys you can get a Win2k compatiable version of our favrite 3dfx GL fix . . .WickedGL . . . .just out and should work . . .here is a link to the file http://www.wicked3d.com/downloads/drivers/wickedgl/wgl_reg.exe you do not have to register anymore so download away. . . I am at work so I do not know if this will work yet, so if you try it please let us know. -ew

I installed them last night after a fresh install ( because I have been swapping in and out drivers, copying around my openGL32.dll and loading 'hacked' drivers for a while now ) went into safemode and Updated Driver . . .Rebooted . . . .worked great . . . went into Q3 and I am getting OK speed . .640x480@45fps using the default settings. . . I did not get a Banchee Propetries tab though . .then I went to sleep . . will test more tonight. My feelings on pirated OS's is . . . . . . I am the guy that the employees that I work for come to for help . . If I don't know the answers to their questions then I don't have a job, so I have to keep my-self one step above the rest. . By learning the 'NEW" OS then I can say that I am better than the next guy. The company that I work for is the person who needs to go out and pay 2000.00 of each of their 8 servers and 150.00 for each of their 2000 workstations not me, and if you think that MS is worried about little old me who is running a cracked beta ( 2195 ) copy of win2k then think again they are worried about companies who have deployed this OS with out paying the 15,000 dollars for a site agreement, or the guy that is on the corner selling burnt copies as the real things for 120.00. I spend all day on a MS product, working on their servers and supporting their workstation and when the day comes that MSCE training to get re certified on win2k from NT4x is free then I'll pay for the OS, until then it is better to keep to my self and keep quiet
