    NFS5 and nVidia Drivers

I get the same thing as mentioned above. The game installs fine, intro video is fine, then it just sits there on the loading screen until I run out of RAM. I am running this on Win2K Pro (retail) Voodoo3 2000 P2-450 w/256 MB RAM This really pisses me off. This is the ONLY game I can't get to work. I really don't want to have to install Win98 for a single game. Is it that good?

    Games as non-administrator

I believe this was a limitation in NT in general. I think that Microsoft changed it a bit for Windows 2000 to let members of the "Power Users" group install software.

need for speed 4 under Windows2000

Has anyone gotten NFS4 (High Stakes) to work under Windows 2000? I haven't. I tried the setwin95 command, but it didn't work.
  4. I downloaded the drivers from: http://seldzar.dhs.org/ and followed the instructions and for the first time (since RC1 for me) my V3-2000 works for games in Windows 2000. I was beginning to think it never would. Anyway, does the WickedGL driver work in Win2K? I have been using it in Win98 for a while and have become used to it (it rocks).

    Windows 2k + Voodoo 3 2000...

When you say build 2195.3 what does that mean? I get the builds from MSDN and my "System" version in control panel says 2195. Is this not the last one?

    Anyone tried RC3 & MX300

I just upgraded to 2183 from 2151 and my MX300 works fine. It was a little flaky in 2151, but so far it's perfect in 2183.

Getting rid of hiding menu items

This isn't really a compatibility post, but it seems there are people here that really know Windows 2000 so I will ask: Is there any way (i.e. registry setting or otherwise) to turn off the annoying feature where menu items are hidden and only the recently used ones are shown. This is the single worst feature of 2000.

    Wingman Formula Wheel

I have the same wheel and it installed fine in Win2k too. The problem is all of my driving games don't work. What games do you use it for?
  9. You can add Half-Life to the non-working list too. Seldzar. I am not "bashing" the OS. I appreciate the work you have done with Win2k. What I am commenting on is that it's probably not the gaming platform of choice (what Microsoft has been touting). Let's face it compatibility is king. If it wasn't I would be running Linux or Be. I don't want to get into a big debate. It looks like MS won't be the monopoly we have come to know and love! Thanks again for your help. I was able to get UT working from the files I dl'd from your website!
  10. Here are the games that don't work for me: F1 (UBIsoft) Fly! Grand Prix Legends Need For Speed High Stakes Sports Car GT USAF Expendable Virtual Pool2 These are all the games I own. The only games I could get to work are UT and Quake. Both of which work in NT4 quite nicely. While I agree that this is a beta OS, it's not looking to promising now. Remember, RC1 is feature complete. Meaning there aren't any new things go in. I find it hard to believe that ALL these games are going to work in the final.
  11. I just upgraded to build 2151 (from build 2128) in the hopes that some games will work. Unfortunately that has not been the case. I installed the drivers as per file in seldar's web page. It says it installs Glide, D3D and OpenGL, but when I went to the V3 properties (in display), I get: GDI Driver Version: 5.00.2112.0018 Glide2x Driver Version: 2.60.00.0408 Glide3x Driver Version: 3.10.00.0406 OpenGL Driver Version: Not Present Direct3D Driver Version: Not Present Why is it saying Not Present? I have yet to get any game to work that doesn't already work in NT4. I have a feeling games under Win2K is just a joke, kinda like OS/2 was. Everyone said it worked, but I never knew anyone to get them to work. Thanks!

    Fly! and other games

Has anyone gotten this to work under RC2 (with Voodoo3)? I haven't been able to get any games to work under Win2k (RC2) that don't already work in NT4 (your Quake and Unreal and their clones)? All the games that are listed as compatible on this site, I can't get to work, like: Fly! Need For Speed: High Stakes Grand Prix Legends Sports Car GT And more...

    Bad new's every one with Windows2000 RC2

I am not quite sure I understand what you are trying to say? Glide and OpenGL don't work on RC2? I am running RC2 (build 2128) and Glide/OpenGL seem to be working fine. It was little painful to install the correct drivers (see my thread in the 2000 Hardware message board for info), but I did eventually get it to work.

    Installing NFS:HS

Has anyone gotten NFS:HS to install under Win2k (RC2)? I tried to use setwin95.cmd on setup.exe, but it still says Win95/Win98 is required.

    Can't run V3 in Win2K RC2 (build 2128)

I finally got it to work. It took a few reboots, but it works now. Thanks for your help!
