Well as much as i like Q3Arena.. i like UT. Today i got the Cd and installed it in 2 computer. One with Win98 and the other with Win2000 RC2 with a Dual P-III 450. What it piss me off was all the time this game took to LOAD! WAOOOOOOOOO!!! even for loading the levels!!! Both computers did the same! I know that UT doesnt support SMP but MAN!! i get tired of waiting for this game to load. The first UNREAL took forever to load... this one is almost the same. Q3 has lots of graphics but it doesnt take that long to load. This is just a comment to see how all of you feel about this.

Ok.. i will add.. another 128 RAM.. to see what happends.. then ill repost again..

It doesnt matter if is 1 proc capable. it just loads slowwwwwwwww. This Unreal Engine.. with all this precaching loading.. really slow down startup on the game. If you ask me.. about Q3A engine and UT engine.. Q3A loads 100% faster!! and it doesnt have to envy the visuals on UT. I have install this UT game.. in almost 10 PC with diferents config. In all of them it takes Forever to load!! period. And i know.. this wont be fix... not even with 100 patches.. Unreal engine have this problem with loading the game since "Unreal" I remember.. i had a P-II 300 and it took forever to load.. Unreal Loading sucks.. Ill keep Q3..

For those who still think that Windows 2000 is a nice gaming plataform.. take another look. Sorry dudes.. In case you did not know, Microsoft is "forcing OEM manufacturers to ship Windows 2000 Professional as a non-media OS." All other Editions (Server, Advanced Server, Datacenter Server) will ship with a CD, but pre-installed Windows 2000 Professional systems will not come with a Setup Media CD. According to the note I received, "no OEM is allowed to ship Windows 2000 Professional with a full retail copy of the Windows 2000 CD." Tell me if you really know what this is. Later

Greggy so what your saying is that with my Dual P-III 450,TNT2 using RC2 Win 2000 i need to add more ram so the game loads faster?? Umm.... thats sound like a bug issue in Win 2000. Why this game needs more time because it uses Opengl and 128RAM?? Dual P-III 450 is pretty fast for any game plataform .. i dont know.. why could be wrong here.. everything is working perfect. In fact this is the only game that takes so long to load.. even using D3D or Opengl as the default video on the game.

Well i have RC2 installed and when i setup the Warftp Demond and when i try to initiate the server it gives and error saying that "Some other service is already using the specified port". I have this PC on a LAN using a Domain.. and i am connection to the internet with a ISDN line. So.. what service could be posibly using the port? It happend the same with others ftp servers. Any suggestions about this?

hehehe.. it seems that all Hardware Manufacters have a lot of work to do with the W2K drivers. I hope they come around with all of them after Feb 17 2000.

Well not much to explain here. I have UT i purchase the cd. When i load the game it works.. perfectly.. but when i exit the game.. the computer.. after 10 or 15 seconds.. REBOOT by it SELF!! QUANTEX P-III 450 DUAL 18GB HD 128 PC-100 RAM TNT2 etc..etc...

TNT2 DIamond.. not ULTRA. and RC2...

My hard drive is very defrag. in fact i defrag my hd every 4 or 5 days. This game TAKES FOReveR TO LOAD!! not even with the patch.. thats why it i hate it.

W2K wont be a great GAMING platform. Just average. Just wait and see.. sorry if you all are going to be disappointed. Uhh..i think ive seen this thread in other section of these forum?

Ummm.. why dont we all wait till W2k hit the market. Then install it and then.. Try it!! Then well see.. if im right.. or wrong about bugs on it. I repeat.. all MS OS hit the market with bugs. Why? due to all systems configurations and brands. thats why. Its almost imposible that any MS OS wont have problems with hardware drivers. Thats why MAC is so stable. hehehe they make everything for it. A modem is built for MAC's Monitors'Mouses'Video cards, etc etc. Have you count how many devices Win98/NT 4.0/Windows 2000 handle? Over 1000+. So i guess thats why all this incompatibility with the OS. Also is not because im a beta tester of MS that i talk so much about it. I do know whats going on. I will install W2k 2 or 3 months after the release. I need to wait for those compatible drivers. You all know you wont have them when W2k this the market. Windows 2000 or Windows Millennium will hit the market with bugs. YOU ALL KNOW THAT! It is good for all of us to get these upgrades from time to time. Because of the left off bugs of the latest OS released to the market. I will say that windows 2000 is a great upgrade from NT4. Windows Millennium too as well. I havent seen a OS with the Win9x kernel more stable than this Millennium. But the 2 OS are direct it to 2 diferents consumers. I know you can play DVD's On Win2000, play games ,PNP ,etc,etc,etc. But these OS is not address for entretaiment. YOU ALL KNOW THAT! I think you guys will be more please with NEPTUNE. That will be what we ALL ever want it on any MS Os. Win9x Gaming and Multimedia Performance with the Power Of NT. I think this is the same but backwards of what MS did with Win98 and Windows 2000. They want it to give to Windows 2000 what they should did at a very first place when they released it. Im testing Millennium and we are a few bugs away to make this product almost perfect. The stability of this OS is away Much better than any Win95/98/Se. I can tell you that. OH!! by the way since im testing millennium i made the "CLASS OF 2000" of MS. TOP 200 Beta testers these year. So please.. Congratulate me!! LOL!!

Ummmm.. i dont think you were stupid .. inteligent i think. That disclaimer is worst that the ones of the interims builts of all betas at MS. But hey.. who knows...

heheh i remember when Win95 was release in august of 95. I have a friend that got the final release in the begining of july. Sometimes.. this happends.. but i prefeer to buy the final product.

Well all hardware manufacters have 2 full months to get the most out of their drivers. It will SUCK!! if you go buy Win 2000 Final and not having optimize drivers for your hardware. I know.. that it will be a few companies that are going to have a pain in the ass trying to make this W2k drivers to work perfectly. Lets see what happends by the end of february. I know that we all be starting again posting threads here.

Well i dont know about most of other companies but Microsoft should built all their games with SMP support. Windows 2000 is on the way.. and most of us will like to use some SMP on our games. Microsoft with Windows 2000 should consider this. That if they consider Win 2000 as a gameing plattaform too.

As far a i know.. im getting along pretty well. hehehe i love when theres a thread that lots of people are interested in. As far of MS want in the OS industry ,thats still unknown. Are you guys pretty sure that Windows 2000 is what MS really wants? Then you talk about Millennium like just a comercial product.. well i could be.. but.. "what if" Windows 2000 is built with the same idea? people are getting crazy about this whole Y2K stuff.. and everything that has the 2000 logo.. will sell. If MS is pretty sure that Windows 2000 is the NEXT BIG STEP, why are we going to start (i dont know yet if this is sure) NEPTUNE on 2Q of 2000? Remember.. MS is a very comercial well based product company. They know their stuff. So i think that we never gonna get a final Windows in our lifes. Now Windows 2000 is a BIG THING.. lets see what happends in the next 2 years..some other MS OS will be out.. and all of you will focus on that.. and will forget about Windows 2000. Well Thats what im talking about. Of course is a superb OS for running aplications internet and FOR WORK. What im talking about here is for the home consumer. Of course you can bring work at home but when you use your computer at home is mostly for entretaiment. Thats why running games smothly is so important at home. Win2k is not good at that and probably wont be (remember NT SUCKS FOR GAMING?).Even if it comes with PNP or DirectX 7. We really have to wait to see if MS will support this OS for Gameing. As the fact that W2k is still on Beta, hehe let me tell you that wont be lots of changes from the latest beta to the final product. Windows 2000 will still be buggy when it hits the market.. you can bet on that. Remember NT? 6 services packs. I dont know if MS will do services packs for Windows 2000 or OSR for it like Win95 or Win98 did with their OSR2 and SE editions. That still a big question.
