Ok i had same problem, it was like DirectX wasn't installed, i didn't only had problem with The sims 2 but with every game that needed directx to run..my dad tried everything, and then he reindttsled my windows and he noticed that problem was in sound card driver, my dad changed it and it worked great...ask someone or go to service to check sound driver Hope I helped -
