If XP could do it, for sure Vista can too, with a little more research I found out how to set it up. Wirless network (internet connection) Set it to Public and use it's default gateway. Wired network(LAN) Set it to Private and do not set a default gateway. Works like a charm

Me and a friend use a shared internet connection. I use a Belkin USB Wireless adapter to connect to the Internet on his router, which is seperate from my LAN router. But the only way it works is when I disable my LAN. If I connect to the wireless network while my LAN is enabled I won't get Interent. When I let Windows try to resolve it, I get the message saying to disable the other active connection. Once I disable my LAN I get Interenet. Never seen this before. I'm running Vista Ult x64. I use windows to control the wireless, not the Belkin Utility, which doesn't seem to exist anyhow with x64. I tried setting my LAN router with different ip's and subnet mask but it didn't do anything. Any ideas on how I can get my LAN and Internet over wireless working at the same time? TIA

I got it. In my haste when I turned the DHCP off I forgot to set the ip's and gateway. DOH! Dam, I hate when your rushed and you forget the little things,,lol

OK I've tried just about everything and I cant get Vista's ICS to cooperate and work with a Broadband Dial-Up connection. I have 2 machines running Vista Business, They are connected in a LAN through a router, DHCP by router. I've tried setting the networks to Private and Public, I've tried setting one private and one public and vice-versa. Tried it with static ip's(DHCP off), reset/re-installed the dial-up account. Turned ICS on, on the LAN network, on the Dial-Up network. And I still can't get the one machine to see/use the connection. Though I can share files on the systems just fine. Any ideas?

I added the security tab to Home, it's fairly simple. Got home to see pro now. Thanks for the replies.

They are using the actual XP Pro administrator account, not a user named administrator. (who ever set the system up, before they called me shouldn't have done that, as far as I'm concerned) File & Print Sharing is enabled, Firewall is set with the exception.

I had to set up basically a simple network for two computers to be able to share the My Documents folder. XP Pro can get in to Home with no problems. Home can't get into Pro, getting access denied. I set the security and share to allow full control to "Everyone" in the Pro system and still get the message. Do I need to add the specific machine(Home system) to the security and share on the Pro system? One other thing, the person using the Pro system logs in as the Administrator, I was wondering if this is making a difference as well, compared to logging in as a user with admin rights. Thank You
