  1. Hi, I have a Satellite that will cannot find any wireless networks, and I think it's virus related. Opening Internet Explorer gives me a pop-up that reads: Quote: System Error! Your system is infected with dangerous virus! Note: Strongly Recommend to install antispyware program to clean your system and avoid total crash of your computer! I need to dl AVG, adaware & spybot, but I cannot connect, so I have to troubleshoot the network to get online. I went to Toshiba.com to find a repair utility to maybe reinstall missing drivers or whatever the utilities do, but there were 42 downloads! Then someone told me to get the Ultimate Boot CD, but that has so many options, I'm scared I'll break the PC! Any ideas? Thanks!
  2. HARDWARE: HITACHI Travelstar from thinkpad 41. SYMPTOMS: Knocking; No operating system found. =========================================================================== OVERVIEW: Apparently, the machine was dropped, rusulting in the following error upon booting: "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe After expanding the file from an XP installation disk, I ran chkdks /r and it said there were errors that couldn't be fixed and the HDD started knocking. It knocks at a rate of 1 knock/sec. I restarted the machine and it says there's no OS and the knocking continues. =========================================================================== Some guy told me to dl and run IBM - Hitachi Drive Fitness Test and another guy told me to pop it in an external enclosure, but aren't both of those options pointless if the drive is knocking? Doesn't that mean the drive head is toast? If yes, how do I fix the drive head, or...? Thanks. P.S. I can operate a soldering iron if need be.

    <windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe HELP

My version of this issue is that I don't know how to copy ntoskrnl.exe from my XP CD to my System32. I have a Thinkpad 47 and it speaks Greek. I tried Expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ C:\Windows\System32 but it wasn't having it. I don't know if the disk is on the D drive.
