I have Tie Fighter Collector's CD-ROM edition released in 1995, but the executables for the game is TIE.EXE and TIEAUTO.EXE This version is not the TIE95.EXE and TIESTART.EXE version that an existing patch on the net can fix. HOWEVER!...I was able to install MY version (TIE.EXE) and it worked. Only problem was no sound and no joystick control. I have the joystick patch, too, from lucasarts. Can someone tell me how to fix the version of TIE FIGHTER that I have so I can play on XP?

I know Tie Fighter is not compatible with XP off the bat, but is there a way to tricking the install program to thinking it is running on DOS mode? I just want to play Tie Fighter...a great space combat game. Probably the greatest ever.
