    Online Gaming Questionnaire

Cormac, thank you for taking the time to answer the questionnaire but the assignment related to it has already been handed in. As a result, it does not need to be filled out anymore. Thank you to everybody who took the time to fill it out. An administrator or moderator can lock this thread if such a thing is possible.

    Online Gaming Questionnaire

Thank you all for the results so far. However, I still need more results, about 25 more. Should only need 5 to 10 minutes to fill out the questionnaire completely. Thanks

Red Alert 2 Install Problems (rare case)

I had the same problem on my computer, which is running Windows XP Pro. I managed to work out that it was ASPI that was crashing Setup at the same point. After removing it and restarting, I was able to install RA2 successfully. I also couldn't install Tiberian Sun either whilst ASPI was installed. Do you have any SCSI devices or controllers in your computer? Are you using any virtual CD drives, such as Daemon Tools? If not, then search for files that begin with wnaspi in your windows directory and the subfolders. If any are found, move them to Recycle Bin. That way if the problem isn't fixed, then they can be restored to their original location. Afterwards, restart and try installing again.
  5. Is the drive formatted as NTFS or FAT32? If the drive is FAT32 then I wouldn't get your hopes up. If it is formatted as NTFS, then it may be a permissions issue. Are you using XP Home or XP Pro? You can change the permissions in Pro straightaway (as long as Simple File Sharing is disabled), whereas you must change to Safe Mode to do the same in XP Home.

    Flash Drives. Fat file sytem.

I wouldn't bother. Converting to NTFS wouldn't give that much more space, if any. Also NTFS keeps a log of activity on the drive, which would take up space and because of the log, you would have to use Safely Remove Hardware when disconnecting the device to make sure anything waiting in the write cache is written to the device.

More Problems Running C&C Red Alert on Windows 2000

I've had the Win95 version of Red Alert working normally on Windows XP. You need the v1.08 patch and the C&C Gold XP Patch together, or the v3.03 patch. The first two are in Westwood's FTP site but the 3.03 patch isn't. I think I downloaded it from FilePlanet or cncnz.com gravyfish, you need to install the C&C Gold XP Patch or the v3.03 patch. If RA will run on XP with those patches, i'd have thought it would be possible to do the same on 2000. jon8rfc, install the Win95 version again under Win95 compatibility mode, install the patches and set the game shortcut to run in Win95 compatibility. Doing this should give a working Win95 Red Alert.
  8. Run Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc). Are any partitions or errors shown on the disk?

need help urgent direct 9.0c in winxp sp2

kainnomercy, I think that you think that DX5 is installed because of the versions of files and the version of DXDiag. What's important is the value returned as the DirectX Version on the System tab of DXDiag. Besides, DirectX 9.0c has the version number 4.09.0000.0904 (I'm guessing it's a version number) next to it. Confused already?

    Software update services

What happens if you run the extracted MSI directly? Does anything relating to the SUS setup appear? If not, then try downloading the self extractor again and re-extracting the MSI. I've installed SUS successfully by running the MSI directly, so the script not running isn't a problem. The script is only there for upgrading an existing SUS server to SP1. Once you've got SUS working, use the latest version of MBSA to check the security of the server.

Ati tv wonder pro A/V sync

Have you run the tests on the PC Check tab in the ATI Multimedia Center configuration, if you're using it. One of tests will check the stability of the clock on your sound card to see whether it is stable enough to keep the audio and video in sync. BTW, what sound card do you have? ATI's support site has a couple of articles on similar problems. http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4724.html http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4275.html Do the audio and video always get out of sync or is it only sometimes? Are you using the computer at the same time as using the TV wonder?
