  1. ok, im brand new to this board and dont know if this post is in the right forum or if there is evena forum, my story is long so i will try to breif it up............ My computer is a HP a620n and is only 2 1/2 months old. I had a audio distortion problem on my E drive dvd drive that started on Sept. 23rd, it wasnt on the F drive just the E drive, after asking around there was alot of speculation to what was causing it, (Spyware, etc.) I decided to buy Norton Internet Security 2005 and installed it on Sept. 25th. I went into add/remove programs and removed the factory installed trial expired version of Norton Antivirus 2004. I also removed Norton Firewall which was not expired yet. Then installed Norton Internet Security 2005. It installed perfect and ran perfect. So......on Sept 26th, I was instructed by HP to restore my computer back to the date just before I had my audio problem, and after restoring it back to a day or 2 before Sept 23rd, the audio problem was gone, but so was my Norton Internet Security icon fom the lower right hand screen, I looked in the add/remove programs list and Nortons Antivirus 2004 and Norton Firewall was back in there because of the restore. I tried to remove Antivirus 2004, I dont remember which 1 I removed first but I tried to delete everything , Antivirus 2004(and their folders in the C programs folder),Firewall, and Internet Security 2005. I kow in the user manual it says to un-install any other versions of Firewall and Antivirus befor instaling Internet Security 2005. Igot error messages when trying to un-install Antivirus 2004, it un-installed the Firewall, but wouldnt completely delete Antivirus 2004. I tried to in Internet Security 2005 and it stopped installing when the install bar reached the installation of Antivirus files. So I deleted every Norton and Symantec file I could find in the registry by clicking Start/Run/REGEDIT/pushingCtrl and then the F key, and then typing in Norton and deleting every file it found until it said finished scanning registry. I did this also typing in Symantec and deleted every file it found until it said finished scanning registry. I still cannot install Internet Security 2005. i have contacted Symantec an went through all the proceedures on troubleshooting. Can anyone help me that knows anything that might work? The last ditch effort is to re-install Windows from the master Recory disc and restore my computer to the day I got it and lose all the files and software I have on it now. I am going to take back the Norton Internet Security disk to the store I bought it and get another 1 with a different product key , but I dont think this will work. PLEASE HELP!
