I am trying to clean up a failed SP2 install. Using the XP Pro disk I get to the Recovery console and it asks for the login password. I didn't install XP with a password (single user machine) so when I hit return I'm dumped out to the C: prompt and the repair is aborted. Any way to put in a nul for the password request?

This is the second time I've tried to install SP2. It gets 40% done loading MSTSCAX.DLL and hangs. Then gives a copy error. When I browse to the location and click the file name it tries again but will not complete load. Last time I had to turn off the power and let XP clean out the aborted install and revert to the SP1 installation (which is relatively new to a reformated drive). Has anyone experienced this problem?
