the latest DivX pack (5.1) plays Xvids - Xvid is open-source DivX if i remember right ) its not the best Xvid decoding around, but i do find it the most stable. If you want ANY sort of DL or codec help go to www.divx-digest.com and visit the forums there.

The amp and speakers are the Inspire digital 5700 set. I wasnt saying the card itself is at fault- it was all PERFECT till about a month ago. Tried all the updates and drivers, even gave in and installed AudioHQ, still no good ( Its software im sure of it, but WHAT software and how to stop it is beyond me. Cant really have it in analogue without spending money on cables i shouldnt have to, plus that makes having a digital amp a waste of time too /

after a week of blaming codec packs and a reload i discovered that my sound was coming out flat because my PC has decided that it wants my sub to play ALL sounds anywhere near bass, which makes a mess of most music. now i HATE creatives software but like their cards, so i only ever install drivers, not the mixer or audioHQ so im wondering what could have made it redirect all the low sounds without my say so, and more importantly: how do i fix it? Help! it seems to happen with both the CD drivers and the latest web ones win2k sp4 + audigy, using the digital jack and a 5.1 5x00 decoder.

can anyone help me with or point me to a guide on safely deleting unwanted parts and features of the default install like the M$ games? yeh this is a bit of a repost, but im yet to get a reponse- hoping this is a better thread to post in oP

Hello, i'm trying to cut some of the fat off this install so i can ghost it and have a nice tweaked backup of my OS to take the pain out of reloading Does a program with a frontend exist that can go round removing all the crap you didnt ask for in a win2k install, like fax services, M$ games and so on? Anyone remember the reg entry to give me the compatibility tab back too? Any extra advice on things that can be deleted is more than welcome ) Thanks!

have you tried opening a DOS box and deleting it using the command line? every P2P user will do this once in a while oP

i had this problem on occasion, you're right in thinking it hasnt crashed. Just click on an area of the screen, for instance the weapon panel and that bit will be refreshed and visable again. This works for everything as far as i remember- so walking round a bit should get you your picture back. If it doesnt then try pressing using the menu short cuts and get the options screen up and refresh it all by returning back to the game. If that isn't it..... your problem is different than mine ooops and now the page has FINALLY loaded, and someone has already said all this.

Ill leave what i have to say about the laughably shoddy Enter The Matrix out of my post Have you got DirectX9 installed? i kept getting this message eversince installing it, there is no "fix" that i know of, but its always worked if i ignored the Wrong Volume message and let the setup continue normally, only changing disks when it wants.

i know this topic has been cold for a while now, but for anyone with similar problems i would advise the "ACEmegaCodecsPack", or if you cant find it, the "Nimo" codec pack v9. The betas are all fine on my machine. I get video files from loads of different places, but the ACE one is the only ive seen that does absolutely everything, both vid and sound. It weighs in at 33meg mind. These should both be easy to find by using the links from DivXDigest. Dont forget to uninstall any previous codecs 1st, else they tend to misbehave

a-ha! i remembered the other thing- monitor power saving: whatever i set the settings to, it works once and once only untill i change them to something (anything) else. this is a new one thats only happened over the last 3 weeks. Tried all the power-scheme changing, but i hate power saving and i turn th emonitor off instead of a screensaver. In response to you responses - i use blackICE firewall, which seems to be capable enough, if someone is messing with my PC then they must to be very easy to ammuse, alt tabbing once or twice a couple of days doent really seem worth bothering getting access to someones PC for. X-mouse i havent got, and tweakUI has only been on a matter of weeks, this is a long running irritation. The clear pagefile idea seems reasonable, but on occasion it will work quickly for a few days. Personally i suspect its either NAV2003 or DirectX9. I'll check when i get home. The registy is still somewhat akin to dark arts to me.... just where are the speaker settings stored? Thanks again.

nothing especially wrong, but these are things i would like to know about please (Win2k SP3) 1 is there any way to protect the reg settings for speakers? some games like to reset them to stereo instead of surround 2 my PC has a tendany to alt-tab progs by itself, the longer its left on the worse it gets. i THINK this has been goign on longer than ive had this keyboard. Any idea why? no messages pop up, it just happens 3 it takes about five minutes to shutdowjn despite apparently doing nothing there was another, ill edit the post when i remember oP thanks
