    Intel Centrino vs other mobile?

Or, you could get an Alienware - they can put a regular P4, 3.2 Ghz in a laptop. It'll cost you and it's probably hard on the battery, but if you want a desktop replacement look no further. AND, they offer a DVD-RW/CD-RW combo drive. :x

Stop Excel from making numbers an equation?

The 1.23E14 you refer to is simply scientific notation (it rounds the number off to a [somewhat] significant amount of viewable digits based on available space and then multiplies the number by 10 [E] to the 14th power. It's simply a matter of formatting. However, if you want it to show something (such as an order number or customer number) where this is not appropriate, simply change the cell formatting to the number style with zero decimal places or custom category type 0. Either will achieve the same result. Also, don't forget to make the cell wide enough to hold the 14 digits, or Excel will display as many pound signs (#) as it can. Hope that helps.
  3. No updates available - XP has all available updates.
  4. I have the new Netgear 54g wireless adapter to connect to the 54g router, and after suspend the laptop becomes basically unusable and loses the wireless connection. Any suggestions?
  5. My friend is having some trouble booting his laptop due to the following error: Wndows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \Windows\System32\Config\System So we tried to reboot with the XP install cd and go to the console repair section, but none of the commands seem to apply. We also thought about reinstalling over the previous installation, but we're nervous about doing that due to some needed data in the My Documents folder. Now, I've had problems similar to this in the past, and I've always had the XP install cd repair the current installation by installing over it, but keeping the previous settings. For some reason, this option doesn't exist when we try to install. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hyperthreading under XP Pro

Well, I played around with a bunch of settings, and here's what happened: I repaired my copy of WinXP using the F5 (for the multiproc) and F6 (for the RAID). This gave me Hyperthreading in XP, but my soundcard and usb had IRQ conflicts, so I turned off PNP OS, and let the BIOS take care of it. This fixed the soundcard and USB problems. Thanks for the help guys.

    Hyperthreading under XP Pro

Yeah, I only see Standard PC in Device manager, and nothing I do (up[censored] the driver and picking a location) will find any other compatible drivers.

    Hyperthreading under XP Pro

No, Task manager only shows one graph (one processor). No benchmarking programs are installed.

    Hyperthreading under XP Pro

Yes, hyperthreading was enabled. XP doesn't even show me a processor tab under Device Manager.

    Hyperthreading under XP Pro

I've been having a problem with enabling hyperthreading in WinXP. My mobo picks up the processor as 2 3.06 GHz P4's, but XP treats it as one. Any suggestions? Thanks, Matthew Derganc

    KazaaLite & IE problem

Just on a whim, I checked to see if I was running a web server, and it turns out I was. Strange, as I don't remember enabling it, and it was pointing to an empty directory. Thanks for the help - it solved the problem.

    KazaaLite & IE problem

I'll try ad aware. I'm not running a web server, but I think I did install the hosts file. I've done that before though, with no problems.

    KazaaLite & IE problem

After installing KazaaLite and a bunch of the utilities that now come with it under XP, IE now prompts me for a username and password for ANY ad on a site that doesn't originate within the site (i.e. it is from ads.doubleclick.net). I have to click cancel for each ad, and each time I load a page. It gets quite annoying quite quickly. It seems like a IE security issue, but after changing almost every single option in IE, I still haven't found anything that eliminates it. Uninstalling KazaaLite doesn't change anything either, even when I pick the option to delete registry keys. I have IE version 6.0.2800.(lots of other numbers) and the newest version of KazaaLite Any help is appreciated
