  2. Hi, I'm working a few month with W2000 prof. now. My start was not to good so my basic config of 2000 is a mess at the moment. What i want: 1. I want a clean set up of Win 2000 and start all over again. (is it possible to have a shadow version running) So I can leave my current version as it is to and will not risque loss of data and settings An other possibilty is a dual boot with XP. Is this possible if it is how can I do this. (because of the kids and some games) THANKS A LOT Albert DISKSTRUCTURE System Information report written at: 03/06/2003 03:34:28 PM [Drives] Item Value Drive A: Description 3 1/2 Inch Floppy Drive Drive C: Description Local Fixed Disk Compressed False File System FAT Size 2.00 GB (2,146,467,840 bytes) Free Space 1.15 GB (1,234,436,096 bytes) Drive D: Description Local Fixed Disk Compressed False File System NTFS Size 5.86 GB (6,292,303,872 bytes) Free Space 2.28 GB (2,447,007,744 bytes) Drive E: Description Local Fixed Disk Compressed False File System NTFS Size 19.84 GB (21,301,313,536 bytes) Free Space 6.75 GB (7,243,902,976 bytes) Drive F: Description Local Fixed Disk Compressed False File System FAT32 Size 998.13 MB (1,046,609,920 bytes) Drive G: Description Local Fixed Disk Compressed False File System NTFS Size 7.81 GB (8,388,591,616 bytes) Free Space 4.14 GB (4,450,476,032 bytes) Operating System System Model Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2195) No details available Logins Network Drives HOMEDOMAIN\Administrator HOMEDOMAIN\my wife HOMEDOMAIN\myself HOMEDOMAIN\myself 2 HOMEDOMAIN\daughter E HOMEDOMAIN\son I Installed Microsoft Hotfixes Printers DataAccess Q318203 (details...) on 01/02/03 Q329414-25 (details...) on 01/02/03 Internet Explorer Q810847 (details...) The solution was very simple... A Single sited 256MB RAM Module works perfect

    256MB SDRAM + 64MB recognise 196MB internal memory

Quote: the motherboard you have can only take up 256MB max memory, Another words you can only use "2" 128MB double sided dimm's PC100 or PC133 = 256MB Ok. so I need 2x 128MB double sided.... Thanks a lot for youre help. Best Regards.... Albert

    256MB SDRAM + 64MB recognise 196MB internal memory

Quote: From look of it look like your motherboard can only read 64MB per side or 128MB double sided dimm's I take you have old system? possable LX or BX chipset. Hi all, The 2x 128MB was not the solution and the 256MB module tested and not broken. So I'm as far as a few days ago. Considering the LX or BX chipset i have collected all the specs of my PC and Motherboard. Maybe this will clear my problem. 256MB SDRAM + 64MB recognise 196MB internal memory

Quote: Either that, or the slot can only read single-sided ram modules. Is there a possibilty to check it? Thanks
  8. ;( Hello, I bought 256MB SDRAM DIMM. I had 128MB and repaced 1 64MB with the 256MB. Now my system recognise only 196MB. After looking on the internet i discovered that my old RAM are PC100's and the new 256MB is a PC133. (The salesmen where I also bought my computer just give me this memory type) So I have the following questions: 1. Why recognise my system the half of the 256MB 2. How can I fix it. (or do I have to bring the 256MB back?)
