    ok i got major issues

I would just download latest drivers off sblive.com Soundblaster had terrible download driver support. You might have to buy a magazine like Maximum PC that has a CD with the drivers.

Best program for blocking ads and spam while browsing?

I use Nortan AD blocking and its really only good at stopping "static" ads. I'm also looking for a good "pop-up" ad killer. I'll try the meaya suggestion.
  3. Any links will be checked... I have LOTs of time on my hands.. the wonderful world of unemployment. Any Free "MCSE 2000" links would be appreciated as well.

HELP! Event ID Error: 7000 "Service Control Manager

For those that care... After installing Windows 2000 Server w/sp3 on my Compaq 6024us (long story..I usually build my own systems), I installed the Intel NIC software that I downloaded from this link. The 6024us originally came with XP. http://www29.compaq.com/falco/sp_detail.asp?Model=4141&Div=4&Os=93&SoftwareVer=14653 I did a "FULL" install instead of the recommended "Typical" install. I think this is where my problem started. Hind sight being 20/20..I dont think anything was wrong with the Compaq software. I probably installed something with the "FULL" version that simply wasnt in my computer...therefor causing that ANNOYING event error message to pop up every time I booted in windows. After a day of bug-hunting the problem..I decided to uninstall the software.. the pop up event message STILL wouldnt go away. I then did a TON of general searches and found this link.. http://support.intel.com/support/network/adapter/pro100/pro100ve/tti006.htm I then installed this software and my problem was resolved. http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-...mp;DwnldID=4275 Since then I've updated the OS and Hardware with all the latest patches and drivers. After doing a 24 hour looping "burn-in" using various programs it's been running like a champ. "Phweeeew...on to my MCSE 2000 Jedi training..." I won't fail you - I'm not afraid. ~ ToySoldier to Yoda Oh, you will be. You will be. ~ Yoda to ToySoldier

Help ! EVENT ID Error 7000

I had to install an updated NIC driver. Perhaps there is hope for me yet with Win 2000. <grin>
  8. Hi, I JUST started self teaching myself Windows 2000 MCSE as of last night. I did a fresh install of Windows 2000 Server w/SP3 on my stand alone computer (P4-1.8Ghz w/intel chipset). During the bootup I receive a message that says a service "failed" to activate and to check my EVENT Viewer. I did and this is what it says. Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: NONE Event ID: 7000 Date: 10/13/2002 Time: 11:50:56 AM Computer: "Computer name" Description: The WLAN Transport service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. Like I said..I'm brand spanking new to Windows 2000 Server but I did check the Service Control manager. There is nothing listed for a "WLAN Transport service" ?? I also did like the book said and try to delete the entry in the registry but could not find anything related to a WLAN. Please help. *** As a side note, I havent done the "Configure Your Server" Yet. I wanted to fix this before going on to that part.*** Thanks. Any help would be appreciated to a MCSE Cherry like me.<g>
