im doing everything powertools lets me... it still wont auto open ???

just recently, ive noticed that when i used to put a cd in any of my drives i would get a window popping up prompting me to choose what program to open the files. this doesnt happen any more. and also if i put a utility program in, it doesnt fire up automatically!!, instead , i have to go into my computer and open it manually.. does anyone know how to fix this ?? thanx.
