Actually if I turn off the sound acceleration completely, it will play. But it periodicly crashes and the sound cuts out completely at times. I suppose I should be glad the damn thing will run at all.

Bladerunner - I downloaded that Detonator XP driver from nvidia as you suggested. It did nothing. DK2 still crashes exact same point. However, my DVD player then crashed later in the night. Probably an unrelated issue but its so easy to break compatibility on every single game and application I have just by downloading a driver. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Is this the fault of DirectX 8.0? - Peter

Oh and I have an MSI - Starforce 822 Geforce3 card with drivers that work but the company has lousy driver support so... I wouldn't have guessed it was a problem specific to my machine. I thought this loading level crash was a common win2k crash.

I have directX 8.0 but that wouldn't explain why DK2 won't start again after the first time? Do you have it working?

    Dungeon Keeper 2 Windows 2000

I have windows 2000 and I just bought Dungeon Keeper 2 and even with the 1.7 patch it doesn't work. I've read conflicting things about whether Dungeon Keeper 2 is supposed to work. I've read it works under 1.7 which supposedly adds win2k support, and I've read you also have to install the latest MS compatibility update which I did. The issue is that the game installs fine, then I patch it, it runs fine, movies , sound everythings good....but then when I go to new game and click the check mark, instead of loading. It just sits there and I have to reset. Then the game won't start after this first time. I have to completely reinstall. It just shows me the clock cursor and then nothing. The screen doesn't go black. I know there are people out there playing Dungeon Keeper 2 on their windows2000 box. Please, Please, could one of you help me out. - Peter
