I downloaded The Sims 2and when I try to play I get an error message that says Failed to find any Directx 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a Directx compatible graphics adapter and hve installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate. I downloaded Directx 9.0c and installed it and I still get the message. Can someone please help me!

Do you know what version of windows you have?
Windows 98?
Windows ME?
Windows 2000?
Windows XP?

Name: ATI Radeon xpress 200 series
Adapter: ATI Radeon xpress 200 series (0x5954)
Adapter RAM: 128.00 MB (134,217,728 bytes)
Now, I know that the system requirements for this adapter is series 7000. Is there a way that I can download an upgrade for it? Or do I have to pay money?

Does your video card have the latest drivers?
Have you tried using the nvidia's control panel and in-game options to reduce graphical settings? Like vsync.
